It is the hardest time to be a teacher, but the most exciting time to be a learner. In the midst of all the frustration there is a silver lining...our students of course. John shares practical ideas and stories on how to get the most out of teaching every day and enjoy your job even when it can be difficult, tiring, and demanding. I shared this book with a few staff members last spring and it really picked their spirits up. They still bring it up today in conversation when we talk about the good work that has been happening in our school.

This guide is 120 pages SHORTER than the old one and numerous descriptions have been shortened and even left out in this guide from the older one! for instance - the monkey temple in jaipur does not appear in this guide and does in the older one - why on earth lonely planet chose to put LESS information into an "updated" guide is beyond me - I've been using lonely planet guides for years and this calls into question for me whether I should continue or not...I'm travelling with someone with the older guide and its amazing how many times his older guide has more information than this newer one - again - BUY THE OLDER VERSION OF THIS BOOK

Making Sense of Singing By Rosemary Reuscher It's with a great deal of pleasure that I write a few words on behalf of my former voice teacher,Harold Hurlbut and his neat little tome,first published in 1916, VOICE FUNDAMENTALS. As a young man from the Midwest;Mr. Hurlbut by the age of 30 hadalready traveled to Europe,spoke fluent Italian, and made the acquaintance of several of the greatest opera singers of the day;Including the great polish tenor Jean DeReszke. By the 1930's he'd established his vocal studio in Hollywood,California; wherehe coached many singers under contract to film studios,including. Dick Powell ,Howard Keel along with many others.Mr. Hurlbut never advocated any particular "method",but rather stressed the fundamental basics of good singing: firm diiaphragmsupport,open relaxed throat and proper articulation of various vowel sounds in order to achieve good resonate tone. Aboveall he emphasized the importance of good health.I am so pleased that the publishers who held this interesting and important archival material decided to release it on theInternet. BRAVO!

I was in the process of completing applications to return to school and I had to think heavily on how I would pay for this without going into debt. In my research I came across this book. It gave me a realistic outlook on how to do just that. It helped me get organized. It let me know what I could expect in the scholarship process, what I needed and how to prepare. After reading it I realized that not only is this a great resource for adults who are going back to school, but an excellent resource for those who are graduating high school. I plan to make it a “pre” graduation gift to the high school juniors that I know. This is an excellent resource and I look forward to reading more from Ms. Spivey.

The stories are funny, snappy, sexy, quirky, satisfying and fast-paced. Many of them play on mythical or magical themes in a modern setting. I highly recommend reading this book.

Leventhal The elegant prose of a professional writer makes this well researched exposition of a local transportation system within east coast America's history a fascinating read for any maritime history buff. Even better for me, one who lives in a riparian site on the upper Chester River, I love learning more about a region that is one of America's hidden treasures. Shaun describes our river by saying, "The shoreline of the Chester River today is probably much the same as it was in colonial times and remains largely undeveloped." The Chester River is quintessentially rural in nature and contains quiet arboreal beauty, an ornithological treasure house, and a delightful challenge for recreational boating. Shaun provides us with a panoramic view of early steam-powered vessels that facilitated the socio-economic evolution of the Chesapeake Bay region through the maritime connection between Baltimore and the Eastern Shore. The array of unique photographs, rescued from historical dustbins, greatly enhances the narrative, and, I must confess, added to my enjoyment of this piece of history--appealing greatly to my nautically nerdy soul. The literature of Maryland's Eastern Shore is greatly enhanced by Jack Shaum's labor-of-love in this book.

Lost Chester River Steamboats is among the best Chesapeake Bay focused nonfiction I've read in 2015. I look forward to future works written by Jack Shaum.

By Bill This title should be in the library of anyone interested in Chesapeake Bay Maritime history as well as the steamboat era in this country in general. The author is probably as knowledgeable about the maritime history of the Bay as anyone around today. The book is well researched and written and covers many aspects of local steam-boating on the Eastern Shore of Maryland.

By Jerry Edwards I am a fan of the creative works of the Walt Disney Company but especially the early creative works of Walt Disney and his associates. It gets harder each year to read honest, factual information on Walt and his associates due to all the untrue rumors and "research" that is only a rehash of someone's previous incorrect "research". That is why I much look forward to every Disney book that is written by Jim Korkis. I own every volume of the series "The Vault of Walt" and it feels like Christmas every time I see a new volume offered for sale. His table of contents of this book is self-explanatory ... Jim continues to cover Disney historical information that I didn't even realize would be interesting to know. Once again, this book is a winner, full of well-researched and interesting stories about Walt Disney, the films, the theme parks, and other enjoyable stories. Try the revised version) Vault of Walt came out, I just knew there had to be a sequel- so many tales left untold. Then, yes, there was a #2, then I was hoping for a Third- and yes, my wish was granted (Thanks Genie, do I still have two more?). But then, I thought- man, that's it, Jim can't possibly come up with a fourth volume of great "Unofficial Disney Stories Never Told".I was wrong. Here is the fourth volume in the series and it's chock full of Disney trivia goodness. It starts by detailing various homes, business locations and Walt Hang-outs- including the Tam O'Shanter. Not in the book, but two interesting facts about that eatery- they use C. C. Brown's hot fudge ( C. C. Brown's invented the hot fudge sundae, and The Tam still uses the tiny ewers of hot fudge you pour on yourself) and the fact that one table there has graffiti done (and carefully preserved) by Disney artists.Book Four then goes on to some interesting film stories including one I still remember from my youth- Jiminy Cricket and the "I'm No Fool!" series of educational shorts. Jim then tells us all about "40 Pounds of Trouble" and why it made a ton of trouble for Walt.Then onto the parks, where such nuggets of trivia such as the backstory behind WDW/MK Tomorrowland, the story of Body Wars, and yet now a fourth "plot-story" behind Disneyland's Haunted Mansion. Fascinating!We conclude by a whole hilarious chapter about pranks done by the Disney Animation Staff and all you ever wanted to know about the the man who was the Voice of Donald duck.Readable, a real page turner. A must get for those into Disney Trivia. Jim has done it again!
