The value of the more than 100 words for practical usage is proved every day. Second, when we read each word for about a minute then the idea is absorbed into our character. We remember to be caring, brave and strong. The ideal aspect of this book is that each of the virtues is extremely relevant every day. We use this vocabulary of 'courage', 'strength' and 'courtesy' at work, at home and especially in social situations. It is sufficient to say we mention at least one every waking hour. The student has the chance to repeat the words we stand by and use in every piece of writing or speech. What do we need? We need kindness, justice and co-operation. When it comes to 'R' words then 'resilience', 'responsibility' and 'respect' resonate and stand out. How readily we are noticed and the words never forgotten when we say or hear: "Oh, I'd love to!" For those who want to get on well with others: read some pages of this book daily. Each word is a prayer.

Life doesn't seem to matter to him except for sustenance.Lucian is a man of your dreams. He is thoughtful, considerate and a perfect fine looking gentlemen. He'd do anything for Grace. Be prepared it's dark and bloody but freaking awesome!The author is exceptional in her writing because it explains in such detail but makes it flows easily in away that you can follow. For example, sometimes fight scenes are hard to follow but these are easy to follow in your head. You managed to have every emotion possible so be prepared to be on the edge of your seat. It's a hell of a ride!

About the Author Jack Scott was born on a British army base in Canterbury, England in 1960 and spent part of his childhood in Malaysia as a 'forces brat.' We follow him as he moves from cosmopolitan London to Ignorati-laden Turkey, with his civil partner - Liam.I'm a frequent visitor to his Blog "Perking the Pansies" Perking the Pansies, the Blog, and love to get my daily dose of Pansy-narrative about the trails and tribulations of Jacks expat life in Turkey. Even though he posts every day - it's never enough -- and it's great he's written his first book, so we can absorb ourselves in his adventure.Perking the Pansies, isn't just Jack's blog on steroids. Yes there's the familiarity of Jack-the-Blog peppered in this tome, but he takes us on a effortless journey of one well written chapter after another. Jack delivers a well thought out, well developed literary expedition, that left me glowing with admiration at his transition from random blogger to eloquent author. I can't heap any more praise on Jack and Perking the Pansies, without gushing.His book takes us on a journey, ladened with wit and comical interactions. But don't be misled that this is a lighthearted aventure into expat land. There's a darker and less appealing side of Turkey that Jack exposes us to, which makes us realize that no matter how much we covert his expat existence, no destination is a nirvana.Life is bitter sweet, and Jack manages to deliver a balanced combination of both in Perking the Pansies.

Everyone except the easily scandilized, bigoted or hard of heart. Many may dream of leaving the rat race behind for a new life in an exotic locale, but it is the rare few that actually follow through. Committed gay couple Jack and Liam choose breathtakingly beautiful Muslim Turkey in which to make their fantasy life of leisure come true. You know that they will face significant challenges and obstacles, and that you are in for an exciting ride. At turns hilarious, saucy, witty, heartwarming and incredibly moving, Perking the Pansies is chock full of odd characters and odder situations. Jack Scott has a way with words, deftly weaving images and accurately capturing the idiosyncrasies and foibles of this all too human lot. In doing so, he pulls back the curtain on prejudice and acceptance, the underlying thrills, frustrations and challenges that come with living in a different culture, and the conflicting emotions that tug at expatriates enjoying life far from family members and cherished friends. In the end, Jack proves that it is the relationships we surround ourselves with that matter most.

By texkourgan As an expat, you feel a kinship with anyone struggling with the difficulties of adjusting to expat life. Reading Perking the Pansies goes beyond this. You feel an instant affection for Jack and Liam, their families, and the rag tag group of Emigreys, VOMITS, Semigreys, and the lot.Jack explores the "extraordinary expat bubble", where things that were true in your past life are no longer reality. But as I read about life in Turkey beautifully interwoven with their stories of visiting Old Blighty, I couldn't tell the difference between real and expat as both were extraordinary. Aging parents, nightmare neighbors, gay weddings, lost lovers, and lots of wine...sounds like Life to me.This book is more a "how-not-to-do" that a "how to" in moving abroad, but it doesn't really matter as everything works out in the end. However, I guess I shouldn't say the end. I can't wait to hear what happens next.

I fell in love with the kingdom series back at book one and fell even more in love with it not. This book was filled with so much love and magic that you could almost feel it was you there in the waters! I enjoyed the names that they called each other. Nicknames only people in love would not mind. This book is about true love finding itself between two unlikely people. The trailers of coming together regardless of the way their worlds thought of each other. It was a great book full of laughs and even a few years. Of hopes and dreams. It was is the perfect fairytale! For us adults that is. ;) if you have read any of the other kingdom books then you already know how wonderful and magical it is. I do not give book reports, so sorry if that's something you was looking for. I only tell you what I thought of the book. And I think it is just as perfect as the rest of the series. I'm sad to see this series end. But I know there is only more great stories to come so I ha e that to look forward to! I know you will enjoy this book. So don't hesitate any longer... go forth and fall in love with the sea world as I have! You will not be disappointed!!!

Fue así como tuve que aprender las diversas funciones de cada planta en relación con determinada enfermedad, y también a recomendárselas a cada cliente para su caso particular, lo cual se imaginarán que era sumamente complicado para un niño de mi edad. Los años fueron pasando, y llegó la adolescencia. A los 16 me gradué de la secundaria y me mudé a otra ciudad para ingresar a la universidad. Me esforcé mucho para lograr entrar en una muy prestigiosa, y lo conseguí, pero de todas formas sentía en mi interior una suerte de vacío, y no entendía muy bien a qué se debía. Luego comprendí que tenía que ver con que no podía generar dinero, porque al mudarme no pude seguir trabajando con mi padre, y por supuesto al ser menor de edad no podía tener un empleo legal. Al hallarme en esa incómoda situación decidí empezar a investigar acerca de las más variadas formas de obtener ganancias, emprendí algunos negocios, la mayoría fallidos, pero de todas maneras no estaba dispuesto a rendirme. Entonces, un buen día de 2014 mientras navegaba por una famosa plataforma laboral, descubrí un vídeo en el cual se recomendaba enfáticamente el método de trabajo freelance, lo que me llamó poderosamente la atención. Sin embargo, la información provista allí era muy pobre, por lo que ingresé al buscador Google y tipeé la palabra “freelancer”. Para mi asombro, apareció ante mí una enorme cantidad de plataformas que yo desconocía por completo. Por supuesto, lo primero que me interesó fue encontrar consejos sobre cómo comenzar con el pie derecho dentro de esa modalidad y llegar rápidamente a la cima. No tuve éxito en esa búsqueda, pero así y todo resolví lanzarme a la aventura, una aventura que desde ese momento sólo me ha deparado dinero, felicidad y conocimientos. Durante un año como freelancer completé varios proyectos en distintas plataformas y acumulé experiencia en muchas áreas, pero cuando volví a buscar en Internet información sobre este método de trabajo, me decepcioné al ver que el material sobre el tema era casi inexistente. Frente a ese panorama, decidí al fin escribir yo mismo sobre el asunto, con el fin de brindar ayuda tanto a los que están interesados en comenzar a recorrer este camino, como a los que llevan ya un tiempo trabajando de esta manera pero a pesar de ello no han obtenido resultados satisfactorios. Lo que anhelo es que puedas disfrutar este libro al momento de leerlo tanto como yo lo hice mientras lo escribía, porque lo cierto es que no ha sido para mí algo trabajoso, sino que por el contrario he gozado y mucho a lo largo de todo el proceso de elaboración. Te aseguro que adquirir esta obra representará para ti una de las mejores inversiones que habrás hecho en tu vida, porque te servirá como guía para iniciarte con absoluta confianza en el maravilloso mundo de los freelancers.

He has created a wacky wonder of an ABC book that will guarantee many laughs from you and your little ones! I read this book first out loud (to myself) to really "get it," then shared it with my four-year old grandson. He ROARED when I read, "Dinkus drives his doo-honker," and now he wants to call EVERYTHING a doo-honker!!!! Too much fun! This would be a really fun book to read to a pre-school or kindergarten class. I plan to do so! The illustrations are creative beyond belief and will hold the attention of all children learning their ABC's. Mr. Sam adds humor that appeals to this age group with words such as "garbage gumbo" and "jaybird underwear." What could be better? signed... Miss Doo-Honker

About the Author John Dewey(1859 1952) was anAmerican philosopher, psychologistandeducational reformerwhose ideas have been influential in education and social reform. Dewey was an important early developer of the philosophy ofpragmatismand one of the founders offunctional psychology. He was a major representative ofprogressive educationandliberalism.In 1894 Dewey joined the newly foundedUniversity of Chicago(1894 1904) where he developed his belief in an empirically based theory of knowledge, becoming associated with the newly emerging Pragmatic philosophy. His time at the University of Chicago resulted in four essays collectively entitledThought and its Subject-Matter, which was published with collected works from his colleagues at Chicago under the collective titleStudies in Logical Theory(1903). During that time Dewey also initiated theUniversity of Chicago Laboratory Schools, where he was able to actualize the pedagogical beliefs that provided material for his first major work on education, The School and Social Progress(1899).In 1899, Dewey was elected president of theAmerican Psychological Association. Pioneering Work of democratic Culture By A Customer Dewey's classic work, although tedious at times, is a cogent and landmark exposition of progressive educational theory. Democracy for Dewey was both a means and an end to the building of a good and just society. In this regard he sought to develop strategies and methods for training students through learning and discipline to become socially responsible adults and conscientious citizens concerned with the rights of others and the common good and to be equipped with the knowledge and technical skills to be productive members of society in the context of our modern industrial world. Dewey is truly a giant not only of modern educational theory but of progressive humanitarian thought generally. Those who disparage him in a knee jerk fashion out of a misguided effort to trash the "liberal establishment," like the Intercollegiate Scholastic Insititute (ISI) which named "Democracy and Education" as one of the five worst books of the 20th Century, have radically misconstrued Dewey's views which merit serious study and application in practice. Dewey was truly one of the great Americans of the last century of which all people of good will can be proud.

To address some of the critics mentioned in the other reviews: RE: "Dewey Dogma" (1) There is absolutely no pretense of an application of the scientific method, hence there can be no mis-application; (2) This book strikes me personally as one of the least dogmatic things I've ever read in my life. The ideas are fresh, original, and beautiful crafted and ordered; (3) "Education is Socialization" - an equation of broadly construed "-tions" that results in a statement that one can neither agree nor disagree with. I could be wrong, but nowhere did I read these ideas as explicit recommendations to be implemented, rather I read this book as a general exploration of educational aims and processes. Dewey (justifiably in my opinion) explores closely connected concepts which I imagine are left out of other educational texts, which is why some with pre-professional backgrounds in education count the length and depth of this book as a negative. His writing, in my opinion, is clear and concise (at least in comparison with other great philosophers) - writing that I would personally aspire to. His ideas, and I can't say this enough, are some of the most original I've come across. We didn't really cover the pragmatists in any of my philosophy classes. Reading this makes me wish we had.

15 of 16 people found the following review helpful. Do NOT buy this edition of Democracy and Education By Ed Filio This edition of the book is absolutely awful. The type is small and printed in a grayish fuzzy font that is hard to read. The margins are almost nonexistent. There is no space to write notes, not even at the bottom of the page. You will notice that this book is only 194 pages, whereas I recently found a very good used copy that is 378 pages. Both are unabridged, but in this edition the text is crammed onto the pages. Also, just scanning through the book today I quickly found two typos. Avoid this cheaply constructed edition. I sincerely hope Amazon stops selling it.

I’m more of the type who wants to know exactly what I should do with my limited time. And most importantly, what locals like to do.This China guide is pretty much a Cliff Notes on China-travel with the most fascinating places thoroughly covered. An added bonus is the survival phrasebook at the end (it’s quite comprehensive) and the China culture primer.This is definitely a hidden gem in the sea of travel guides.

This China Travel Guide by Wanderlust is quite the detailed book of day trips to the 10 day itinerary. It's close to 200 pages of information to make your trip unique and enjoyable. It's set up in an easy to understand way and looks to be easy to set up itineraries suggested. The only thing I would like more of is cost details under each Experience and Transit section; I would like to know how much each suggestion is so that it's right there in that day's description.This book is filled with beautiful enticing pictures of the places they describe. It has a good amount of practical information for each suggestion to make your trip easier. I love how they add attractions and food options and the transit. Instead of looking mindless at a bus or metro schedule, I like how it's already laid out. I don't know of another book that does it like this. This book includes history of the places described as well as 'Off the Beaten Track' places, which I love - because we all like the tourist stuff, but I find the places the locals go to be more cultural some of the times.This China Travel Guide: Best of China by Wanderlust has a great layout design that breaks up China into more manageable regions. I also love the section in the back that gives you words and phrases in Chinese to possibly help you in your travels there. I definitely would use this book the day I get to go to China!

As most of us tourist know, it is hard to plan without knowing what is all available for us. With this, it gives you a breakdown of where to see what and when. By Blaine Parker Daniel Taylor is a no-BS, regular guy who lays it out for you--something that I was missing when I was doing the college thing. Granted, I wasn't using "College Loans For Drinking," as mentioned in the first chapter. (Nor was I using them to pay for a BMW, an absurdity that was one of the first things I remember the university president mentioning in his address to freshman and their families as part of a cautionary tale about financing an education.) But as a teen and then 20-something, I was ignorant about how to lead a better than hand-to-mouth existence. I assumed investing was for other people who made more money than I did. Taylor exhorts you not to be "a sucker who pays real money for a virtual gain" like crushing candy. He illustrates the power of investing in an attainable way that makes sense. And he hammers at you on the folly of credit card debt.The problem today is that we've all been lulled into the complacency that comes with easy credit. Credit card companies are letting us pull the wool over our own eyes. This book shows you how to pull it back, and shows you a better, attainable way to live richly by having a debt-free mind. There is tremendous power in that.

It's About Time By Chip Bianchi Someone has finally written a book for students who are transitioning from mainstream classes to self-contained classes. This book tells a straight forward story without being sappy or overly sentimental. Ms. Connors' story not only gives us insight to a student's anxiety, but we get to a sense of how important a role teachers need to play in making student's feel "good" about being their new environment. Meeks This was a long awaited treat for me since I read Grace Draven's Master of Crows about 3 years ago in paperback then bought it again in Kindle format. It has been in my All Time Top 5 ever since and I kept waiting for more since most authors drop new books every few months or so. This took a bit longer and it was worth the wait.Louvaen has been both mother and sister to Cinnia since her younger sister was a child, now Gavin has appeared and her sister seems to have fallen for the handsome young man. Being the self appointed guardian of her sister's honor she is not likely to be fooled by his charm but things happen to change that, not the least of which is meeting the lad's father Ballard who has been cursed.This is an original story which uses the basic framework of the Beauty and The Beast fairy tale to convey an amazing story of love, devotion, obsession and magic. You have a pair of tragic heroes, a pair of damsels in distress, an old curse, an evil villain and a few thorns. The story is riveting and the main characters and most of the secondary characters are fully written and deeply part of the story.So we have to try to break the curse, keep their father out of jail and the hands of the evil villain, keep an eye on her sister's honor and find a way to live happily ever after. Quite a tall order and it may not happen at all, this is no fairy tale, it is filled with hatred and evil still having power. The touch of "love conquers all" is still a great read even if well worn a bit .At the core of all of this is a slow story of romance and growing devotion that will be the key to most everything so if you are looking for somebody to jump into bed or passionate embraces in the first 25% of the book, sorry this is a slow moving deeply detailed romance which you will remember long after you turn the last page. This is why we read these type books, this is an exceptional story told by an talented writer and you will hate to see this book end. Trust me. 5 Star materiel all the way and it will probably be one to read over and over in years to come.

13 of 15 people found the following review helpful. Great characters bring this touching twist to the Beauty and the Beast fantasy romance to life By melindeeloo I loved much of Entreat Me. The characters in the leads and the supporting cast are strong and the relationship development is wonderful and touching. I also liked the Beauty and the Beast theme when it melded with a bit of Taming of the Shrew - a bit less so when shades of the Disney version bled through before the final climax.Where this worked a bit less well for me was the flashback scenes to the leading man's past - most of it was revealed to the the leading lady so in the later part of the book these scenes didn't really seem necessary to me (and slowed the story down.)Despite the nits, I loved the story of a cursed Lord (in this case two cursed Lords) and the women who are strong and open enough to love them anyway. Now, I hope Draven still writes the sequel she had in mind for Master of Crows - or heck anything else for that matter - I am sucker for stories with great character development and she has that down to an art.

9 of 10 people found the following review helpful. Enjoyable Read By Jace King I wasn't sure about this book initially because it's not my typical genre. I like to read romance, but I've never read re-tellings of common fairy tales. I was concerned the story would be too predictable being a version of Beauty & the Beast, but I'm glad I gave it a shot. It turned out to be a very enjoyable read. Some of the story is a bit predictable because of the common fairy tale elements, but for the most part it is a unique story with well developed characters. I agree with some of the other reviewers that some of the vernacular didn't seem consistent with the time period. I'm not sure what year it's supposed to be, but it's a time of castles, magic, horse-back riding, and women who don't wear pants- so I'm taking a wild guess and assuming it is some long ago time period. Yet occasionally you have the characters using more modern day phrases. It's a minor issue, and didn't really bother me or interfere with the story much, but worth noting. Other than that I liked the book a lot. I can't *quite* say I loved it, which is why I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars. I would recommend this book as a worthy read to anyone who enjoys romance.
