623 Squadron was one of many units that operated for a brief period as part of Bomber Command in the Second World War. Formed with seven crews from 218 (Gold Coast) Squadron in August 1943 its service life was only five months but its contribution, and the sacrifice of its crews, was considerable. Over the course of 139 sorties its Short Stirlings dropped 120 tons of bombs along with 65 tons of mines at a cost of nine aircraft lost in action and a further two in accidents or crashing on return to base. 46 members of the squadron gave their lives in the cause of our freedom before the squadron was disbanded in December the same year. Falling victim to the withdrawal of the Short Stirling from bombing operations over Germany, the life of the unit was so short that there was not even time for a squadron badge to be granted. A Short War combines the operational history of the unit with the personal stories of many who served with the unit. This is the definitive history of 623 Squadron, its people and aircraft. The print edition of A Short War also includes the full operational record of every crew and aircraft that served with 623 Squadron, along with over 80 photographs, many never before published. By Derrick & Kim Pero I received this book the author and from Paranormal Romance and Authors That RockSometimes it is hard to see that a relationship is abusive when there are no broken bones or bruises left behind. Words and actions can hurt as much if not worse. Faith finds herself in this kind of relationship and she looks into herself and decides to make a change for the better. She needs out of the marriage, and away from her husband. She makes a plan and starts the process. As hard as it is she keeps going until......you will have to check it out for yourself.This story is well written and a good read. This brings to light a serious subject and the strength inside of us to overcome such things.I give this a 4 out of 5 fangs

By Dee Archer This is a precious book of information and encouragement for women trapped in an abusive relationship. The story of Faith, based on actual case histories, is one that many women will identify with. We read in the news and see in the movies of domestic violence which is usually physical abuse. But I can testify personally that verbal, emotional abuse is far deadlier, debilitating and painful than any fist to the face. As a child raised on verbal abuse, I constantly heard the phrase "Sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never harm me." Heard this quoted on the playground after an encounter with mean spirited kids. After a childhood of verbal abuse, I entered a marriage where the conditioning continued. It was there that I realized that childhood phrase was the most asinine set of words ever uttered. Now in my seventies, some old programming still has the ability to sting but it's only for a second. This book is an excellent opportunity to broach the subject of verbal, emotional abuse and to offer solid guidelines for overcoming and to present encouragement to every soul. I was given this ARC in exchange for an honest review. Five Stars.

Faith thought she needed to stay with her husband due to her marriage vows. But enough is enough, so she makes a phone call that changed her way of thinking. She begins to plot on how she can leave her husband but has to have money for a place to live, food and other necessary things. She begins looking for a job secretly. You'll have to read A Doormat No More to see what happens.

This is about a modern girl – albeit one with archaic tastes – who finds herself over her head in a Gaelic myth and must call upon all of her resources to recover any hope of freeing herself and her beloved. During these initial chapters, several details that appear to be merely ‘setting the scene’ turn out to be of considerable significance later on. So read carefully!After that, the plot develops at an incremental speed and by the end of the book things are happening fast, with elemental forces, secret worlds and capricious hidden folk all playing their part. There is even a late, but greatly appreciated cameo appearance from a certain Big Guy whose stories I loved to read as a young ‘un.I can recommend this book to fans of Celtic mythology, drama and anyone who simply enjoys a good story and fancies something a bit different. And hey, you’ll be able to tell people you were reading N.W. Moors before she was popular. That ought to be worth a few social points!

I immediately got sucked into the book as the setting was in Maine where I live. Add Irish folklore, celtic music, knitting, time travel & love, and you've got the makings of a story written by someone who knows their craft. If you're an Outlander addict, or Janet Chapman fan, this is Book 1 in Moors' Antrim Cycle series. Give it a try!

I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. I hope there will be more books in this series and maybe about Finn and Hugh. The two main characters in this story are Conn and Taisie. The major location of this book is Maine but we get a visit to the land of the Fae. Taisie' s grandparents were born in Ireland so she grew up with all the Irish tales and legends. When the 4 siblings identities were revealed Taisie knew she'd do anything to save Conn. That included going into between the world's as well as the land of the Fae. It's an exciting book. It's a contemporary romance yet paranormal that deals with many Irish legends. At times it's sad yet holds intrigue and suspense. I look forward to future books written by Ms Moors.

Highly recommend By Scott Held With clear, incisive prose, Dr. Krishnan adroitly and effortlessly guides the reader through the complex maze that is nuclear terrorism and national security. His expertise is obvious, as even the slightest glance at his academic credentials invariably indicates. And yet, his real strength lies in his ability, not to perplex and alienate the reader with the usual scholarly jargon, but to provide an account that is easily aaccessible even for the layperson. Dr. Krishnan genuinely wants his readers to walk away with a better understanding of the material; he is not writing for academic accolades, but for individual education and self-improvement. In this respect, his writing can be seen as an extension of his teaching style. As a professor, Dr. Krishnan brought a unique passion and enthusiasm to the class, going out of his way to clarify complex topics with remarkably consistency and outright glee, as anyone who has taken his terrorism and nuclear weapons class can attest. (For those interested, there is a good video of Dr. Krishnan giving a condensed version of this lecture on YouTube). His passion for education was self-evident - a quality which translates from spoken to written word with noticeable ease - and, while it can't compare to actually taking his class (not much can), this book is definitely the next best thing.

Ms. Marsh, you did it again! Once I got the book downloaded to my iPhone, I could not put it down!This is a story about two people that have one thing in common: growing up without a father. Chantal's mother never told Chantal's father she was pregnant. She did not tell Chantal about him until she was eighteen years old. Chantal and her father now have a nice relationship. He now lives in New York City. They talk and Skype often. Zane's mother told her sons that their father died. Lie! He is very much alive. When Zane was a still a baby, his father just took off and moved to America, where he remarried, and had two more kids. Zane, and his brother Steele, have two half brothers, Wyatt, and Kurt, which you will also meet in this book, and just are just as interesting as Zane. Yes, there are future books coming about all of the brothers (Yippeeeeee!). Zane comes to America to meet and get to know his family. He meets Chantal when a friend of hers asks her to show Zane around Las Vegas. Their attraction to each other skyrockets as soon as they meet, and their feelings for each other develop quickly. Chantal goes with Zane to California to meet his father. However, he takes an instant dislike to Chantal. I love Chantal break off her relationship with Zane because she realizes that she does not want to get between Zane and his father. I am not going to describe the story any further.Ms. Marsh does a phenomenal job writing this book. The characters development is done so well that you really get to know them and care what happens to them. I cannot wait to read about the rest of the brothers. If they are even half as great as this one, Ms. Marsh will have four more hit!Ms. Marsh thank you for the ARC, I REALLY enjoyed the book!Thank you for reading my review. Though it's the romance between Chantal, burlesque business owner and Zane, Aussie footballer, it's also an introduction to Zane's 3 brothers as Zane makes his way to the United States to meet his estranged father and siblings. I liked Chantal's strong, independent character. She's in a line of work that many people disparage as the owner of a dance club, but she's made it a profitable business and one she is proud of, no matter what other people think. Zane is equally interesting as a strong and handsome sportsman who finds Chantal attractive, smart and fun to be with. Together they share some explosive sexual chemistry, though Zane is determined to treat Chantal better than a one-night stand. Personally I would have been fine without the "Insta-Love" professions after such a short time together, as I think it's reasonable to have a romance where the couple likes each other but doesn't fall madly in love right away. Besides the relationship between Chantal and Zane, I really enjoyed all three of Zane's brothers as they were portrayed in the story. They all have a unique character and the scenes with them were fun and interesting. I'm looking forward to more stories in the series that will feature them! 4 stars.

It covers all genres and offers a brief definition of each genre in the beginning of the book. Best Summer Reading for Starting Fresh for the New School Year By High school teacher Teachers who pick up this book and start reading will know they do not need a review to promote what is a landmark conversation. The minute you take in the oral and written histories that Murphy and Smith capture about the effective teaching and learning of writing, you will know quality when you see it. You will grab your sticky-notes to mark the pages for strategies you will want to try as soon as you can. This book offers a graceful balance between acknowledging directions for new standards and providing time tested practices that endure. This will be a classic for many teachers' bookshelves as it will now be for mine.

Carry This Book Right Into the Classroom By Susan Threatt In Uncommonly Good Ideas, teachers of writing are realistically represented and associated in good, collegial, diverse, and intelligent company. I like the case approach in that it brings big ideas and context into close association on the same page. Those of us who read this work to find out more, to be prompted, motivated, and informed in our own practices, can better imagine a real life application and critical analysis. We can see our circumstances in this book and the students with whom we work. Those of us who trusted the descriptions of our work to these authors can rest in the fact that they respect, without condescension or over-simplification, the complexity we deal with every day of our classroom lives.

By avidreaderpw Everyone whether their children are in a charter school, considering a charter school, or have children in a public school district should read this. Having worked in a school district and in a charter environment I can tell you these things do happen more often than you think. The education system has more problems than simply a need for more money. There is misappropriation of funds every where, there is nepotism every where. Our children deserve better. This particular charter claims to serve the under served, their schools are strategically located in low income neighborhoods and for years they have been touted as the charter example that other charters should follow. The school in this book has been in existence since 2007, it began as a low performing school and even though most of the people in this story have moved on and there is new staff it is still a low performing school. It's sister school opened at the same time that is mentioned in this book is the same. The stories in this book are true. Read the book!

This book is intriguing because it exposes the inside of what happens at these schools if we don't pay attention. Beyond being interesting, it is a fantastic read which is well written from an ordinary perspective that makes the reader at home within the writers thoughts. The writer and reader make the journey together and discover what's happening at this particular school with the faculty, staff and students. The best part is that after reading the entire book, you are left with a blazing question, "WHY?". Regardless if you have children in a school system, a child too young to be in a system yet or if you are a concerned citizen who may want to help or become educated on what is happening to contribute to the continued delinquency and regression of our children and by extension society, "You definitely should read this book!".

By Quinten Mason I was emotionally touched from the start when reading this book. All the emotions and frustrations I've experienced working in a charter school were very similar to the narrator of the story. The book was brilliantly written. I appreciate the highs of all the excitement in the book. It seems there was one scene of drama after the next to keep a reader curious as to what was going to happen next. I couldn't put the book down. There are many inspirational moments in the book where a teacher hangs in there to be a great influence to the students even when things seem bleak. This book is a fantastic read.

The poet, a born and talented teacher and a gifted and skilled poet, writes in a way that is strikingly humble, honest, courageous, and profoundly caring about the well-being of children, while never losing sight of his purpose in their lives: to help them discover the process of risk-taking, trust and dedicated work, that will carry them through their lives and let them fulfill their potential as human beings~ in this case, human beings who learn and grow through poetry, including the development and joy of their own poetic voices. They learn from the adult poet, their beloved teacher "Mr. K," that they can trust themselves little by little, for as the solo poet begins to make thoughtful and moving connections with others through the musical language of poetry, the real magic is when a whole group of individual singers can actually form a chorus. Students in the classroom discover this as they listen to each other, and as their teacher-poet Stan Kusunoki gives them a stage for the performance of their poems, or helps them put together a poetry collection as a class project. What they'd done in her big tousled bed wasn't the one night stand of I want you material, it was something else entirely.     He had experience of how I want you played out, and found it mostly to be about ego and mindless animal need, satisfying enough when it wasn't pathetically drunken and fumbled.     What they'd done was the opposite; it was slow and gentle, careful and considered and it rocked his world. They'd caressed and flowed and rippled together, the boiling and melting so evenly shared, so exquisitely paced, it left him alive to the notion he'd been screwing women for more than decade and had never known what it was to make love.     Because that's what'd gone down.     It filled him with both awe and regret. Regret that he'd wasted a lot of time being satisfied with good enough. Awe at having found that incredible tension and rhythm with a woman he'd never imagined trying for. Regret that it was only through divine circumstance it'd happened at all and wouldn't happen again after tonight.     Because as beautiful as it had been, it was also goodbye. Jacinta had used her body to tell him to go, tell him he'd gotten too close and didn't fit well; was too big and silent and clumsy, too intense and stubborn and quick to misunderstand, to be part of her well ordered existence that didn't include a personal life by choice.

By Bianca @BJsBB Mace is a really hot IT nerd....Jacinta is his boss...'Princess Severe' as he secretly calls her.And she just kinda propositioned him - at work!He's not sure what to do - he's intrigued - but a bit scared too...But of course he takes her up on her offer...And he finally sees the 'girl' behind the tough business exterior...But they're both sure that it was just the one night - or the one weekend as it turned out...because next to their explosive affair - real explosions have happened in the city and Jacinta's street is on lockdown....and Mace 'has' to spend the weekend ☺Then a business-deal goes wrong and suddenly Jacinta's professional future seems not that bright anymore...And Mace ... he has a dream to start up his own company with his buddy Dillon - but they need money .... and someone to believe in them.Lots of things happen - lots of SEXY things - lots of good and bad business things...But....WHAT WiLL HAPPEN WiTH JACiNTA & MACE???WiLL THEY BOTH OVERCOME ALL THEiR INSECURiTiES???WiLL THERE BE A HEA???WiLL THERE BE A CLiFFHANGER???Nope - not telling you ☺_____________________________________I REALLY LOVED THE BOOK!The first page worried me a bit ... I just got a weird first impression. I first thought this was going to be some kind of apocalyptic-post-nuclear-war kind of story. But it was 'just' a 'normal' explosion that happened in the city. Phew ☺But after that first page - after I understood what it was about....I fell in love with Mace and Jacinta.This story was soooo beautiful. And realllly beautifully written.The sex-scenes - some of you might know that I love my sex scenes frequently and very explicit ☺ - and I know that Ainslie doesn't really do my kind of sex scenes ..... BUT this time she really surprised me with them. There were no explicit words or anything - but it was almost poetic, the way she described everything. It was so very erotic and full of feelings and ... just so beautiful.And the story.First you think that this is just the complete opposite of all the other romances, with their hot male CEO's - because here we have this though business woman.....And it is like that...BUT it's also not like that at all...There's so much more behind the tough business exterior and there's also so much more behind this geeky IT guy.They both discover more about each other and themselves than they ever expected to....Then there's the whole side-story about this explosion stuff - and of course that reminds us of Boston ... but it's more or less just the background for whatever happens in Jacinta & Mace's story... It's 'only' the reason they were first brought together for longer than their planned one-night-stand...There were so many moving moments in this book - and lots of funny stuff too (like a phone-call to Dillon for example ☺ LOL) - and LOTS of EROTIC moments.Just like all of Ainslie's books - this one was just as wonderful and unexpected. Perfect really!I could and would want to write so much more about this wonderful book - but everything I'd say would totally spoil your reading pleasure ☺••• INSECURE was an amazingly beautiful & interesting Romance about two people who first need to fight with everything they have to overcome the problems life throws at them, and then get over their own insecurities, in order to find their HEA with each other. •••READ IT!!!!!!!☺And now please Ainslie - hurry with whatever new thing you're writing about - you always come up with the Surprising and the Unexpected!!!!

He works in IT and he and his mate Dillon are trying to get a start-up project through venture capital funding. It's full-on.Then there's Jacinta - charming, career-driven, rich, focussed, but with a caring side that stops her being a materialistic cow. She's grateful for the work her PAs do for her, (like turning up with coffee unasked for) etc; she has a plan to make the bank she is an executive of take responsibility for customers who might get themselves in financial trouble, before they wind up a suicide risk. That kind of thing.Mace and Jacinta on the page are emotional and intense.Jacinta loses her job. Mace's start-up starts to become reality. The power balance shifts.It's exciting to watch. It's another white-knuckled/hold-on-tight read by Ainslie and once again, I loved it.
