The stepmother was selfish, vain and unkind; she only had her equally selfish daughters in mind. Now called Cinderella, she became the maid; To have happiness again, she hoped and she prayed. One day, a messenger held a letter from the king, there was to be a ball where all ladies could dance and sing. It was for his son, the prince of the land; who needed a lady with a suitable hand. The stepsisters were excited to meet the prince; they wore dresses that could make one wince! They demanded that Cinderella do this and that; mending their dresses and feeding their cat. Oh how Cinderella wished she could go, where to get a dress- she didn’t know! “We’re leaving you to clean up the mess, You’ll never find a pretty dress.” Cinderella cried as they left her alone; she couldn’t go to the ball, she had nothing of her own. Suddenly a light flashed before her eyes; Her fairy godmother had heard her cries! “Don’t cry Cinderella, for I will help you, we’ll see this wonderful ball push through. We’ll give you something to wear, no one will ever be as fair!” A beautiful dress, as beautiful as she was; and delicate glass slippers that made her pause. She now had a carriage, a footman and horses; All thanks to her fairy godmother’s magical forces! “You must leave before the clock strikes midnight; leave like you and your carriage are in flight. This magic I gave you won’t last forever; it’s up to you, I know you’re clever.” Once Cinderella arrived at the ball, everyone thought she was the fairest of all. The prince immediately approached her to dance; it was a wonderful start for their romance. The stepsisters were jealous; who was she? This lady was lucky as could be. Suddenly the clock began to chime; Cinderella had run out of time! The prince called out for her: “Please, wait!” but Cinderella left him; it was too late. All she left was a glass slipper, the only clue; the prince would use the slipper; it would do. He and his soldiers knocked on every door; it seemed there was hope no more. The prince came to one more place; He was ready to give up on this chase. Two sisters fought over the shoe made of glass; his last chance had come to pass. But another lady called out to him; just when he thought his chances were grim. Cinderella showed him the glass slipper she kept; her stepsisters realized it was she and wept. Her stepmother and stepsisters she left alone; and they could do nothing on their own. Cinderella’s days were once more filled with laughter, And with her prince she lived happily ever after!

Author set the book to rhyme which was a challenge in and of itself to maintain the original story, tho rhythm was a bit off since sentances weren't always of the same length. A very good book overall and I do look forward to reading "Snow White" by the same author next!

My Bestest Princess Fairy Tale retold with a rhyme ♥ By Caroline I am 9 years old and liked this book because Cinderella is one of my favorite princess fairy tales and because this book rhymes it makes the story so much more fun to read. The pictures are sooooo cute and the story teaches you something important about not being jelly and to be happy with things. It’s a cool book and I can’t wait to read all the rhyming fairy tales over my school break. =(^.^)=

By Robert Estes I would tremendously recommend reading this book if you are interested in getting involved with kindle unlimited. I have learned so much about kindle unlimited and I wasn't even half way through the book. I was very impressed and I think you will be too of how much detail the author went into in writing this book to help the readers learn all of the essentials that come with kindle unlimited. In this book you will realize how man books you need to rent to get your money's worth. You will have access to audio books and it also talks about competitors and their rates and great ways to search for these books. What a great read!!!

Add another book to see negatives. The author does explain why there are so many short items available. Exposure for authors is critical... offering their work on kindleunlimited lets readers see if they like the style of writing. An Unlimited member can discover new authors this way. It's also useful for finding out before a purchase if it's worth the time and money to buy an author. Many books for sale on regular Kindle offer samples that never go beyond the Ego Trip article written by the Author as his introduction ... leaving potential buyers in the dark about style and content. Checking out authors on Unlimited for writing style and for the QUALITY of works published under their name can help in making a decision about buying a regular kindle book. However... Many books on Unlimited are riddled with errors ... often to the point of being unreadable... the authors have to meet no standards for spelling or punctuation. But apparently they get paid anyway by Amazon. This is an affront to Buyers and reflects a basic flaw in programs of this type. A defective product should be returnable and the author should not gain by hiding behind Caveat Emptor. Writing reviews on a Kindle is a pain due to inferior software and a dearth of instructions. The least they should do is make the Fifth star a Happy Face and the One Star a Scowling Face ... which would help prevent unintentional errors by reviewers.

By Raygun Bought a copy at the vineyard on my 3rd to last day. It gave me a mission to try as many of these places as possible. My only gripes and they aren't even that bad - food books need color photos! :) Also it would be nice if each place had a little sidebar with an address or contact info of some sort. Not major complaints in the age of smartphones, but just to be a more complete guide - maybe throw those in future editions. It would also be nice to throw in if there is a major tourist thing nearby.Also, this is a series that needs to be made for each major vacation spot and/or State. Each place I tried was great, and even though I had researched a lot before the trip, this book still tipped me off to some hidden gems on the island. If you get this book and the GySPy app for the island, just get a rental car and explore - you will have a great trip. Unless you are a dullard. Then enjoy the swimming pool and McDonalds and ignore this book.

By Derek I'm a big fan of local food and unique dining oppertunities, but when I started researching my trip to Maui I quickly realized that the potential options were overwelming.Luckily a local friend of mine recommended this book to me!It really is full of awesome eating and drinking options (even some farm stuff too), and helped make our trip a huge success!I loved that it was both informative and entertaining. If your going to Maui make sure you have this book!

From Publishers Weekly As he's finishing grad school in the early 1990s, the author applies for positions in the Boston public school system; he wants to teach in an urban school, to work "with kids who might have their lives changed by me." In this absorbing, almost journal-like memoir, his second, Halpin (It Takes a Worried Man) shares his nine-year roller-coaster ride of life as a high school English teacher in Boston and two nearby suburbs. Halpin writes passionately about his work, from the highs of watching students "translate" scenes from Shakespeare-"One group... does a great job of turning Romeo and Juliet into something like Beavis and Juliet"-to the lows of not being able to control a room full of disruptive teenagers. He doubts himself and thinks about quitting. "I can't believe how much I suck at this job," he writes at one point (suck, one of the author's favorite words, appears a little too often). Halpin's story doesn't have a conventional happy ending, but he does accomplish his initial goals. In what he describes as "probably the best class I will ever have," Halpin reads Wordsworth's poem "We Are Seven" with a class of academically struggling juniors in Newcastle, Mass. "They speak honestly and movingly, and, best of all from the perspective of an English teacher, they keep coming back to the poem," he writes. "By the end of the class, they have done as thorough a job analyzing the poem as I could have hoped for." Though the memoir lags a bit in the middle, especially when Halpin recounts his frustrations with colleagues and school administrators, this chronicle provides an irreverent yet earnest look at the vocation its author clearly loves. Costa While Halpin's candid account of teaching in the public schools of Massachusetts is by no means all warm and fuzzy, it is a poignant testament of one man's love of teaching. As a public school music teacher (and a first year at that), I found constant affirmation in reading Halpin's stories of the rollercoaster ride of American education. From student teaching dramas and locating a first job to dealing with administrative conflicts and parents, this book covers it all...and in a very informal, interior monologue kind of way. It is this journal-esque way of writing that really drives the story. I was pleased that despite Halpin's english teacher credentials, he was more than comfortable to write the book in a more relaxed style, complete with slang, colloquialisms, and less-than-perfect grammar. The book, despite its non-heroic ending, has inspired me and my teaching.

Heverly Reading Faculties I was reminded of something Kurt Vonnegut said of Hunter Thompson: " I am told that {Thompson}...is being eaten alive by tinhorn politicians. The disease is fatal. There is no know cure...let all those who feel that Americans can be easily led to beauty as to ugliness, to truth as to public relations, to joy as to bitterness, be said to be suffering from Hunter Thompson's disease." Brendan Halpin spent {at least} eight years in the Massachusetts public schools believing in the salutary effects of education on the teenage soul. That alone qualifies him as a Hunter Thompson disease carrier. As a teacher I found Faculties a gripping read, filled with all the familiar feelings (sleepless weekday nights; fury at lazy, self-important administrators; bewilderment at colleagues more interested in real estate than real teaching). I rooted for the author to find the Holy Grail, the school with good people doing good. Halpin tells the story as if he'd channeled one of the teenagers in his Boston-area classrooms. It's full of profanity and slang and long parenthetical asides that almost sidetrack the narrative. But he, mostly, pulls it off. Enough that anyone interested in being the fly-on-the-wall of a high school will find this account compelling. Ironically Halpin cites the very characteristic that undermines the power of his story: "The {kids} papers kind of suck...mostly because they are long on opinions and short on evidence," he laments early in his career. We meet myriad characters in Halpin's world but very few, if any, are painted with enough detail for the reader to feel confident that they should share the author's {often-scathing} judgments. On almost every page I found myself talking to the print, saying, "Yeah, I know that jerk. We have one of those in my school, too!" And yet, despite Halpin's repeated confessions of his own failings the reader still is left with a nagging feeling that some of his villains might really be heroes (and Halpin occasionally switches sides himself, condemning people in later pages who were allies in earlier episodes). For anyone who likes this kind of thing I'd recommend four other books of similar theme: Shut up and Let the Lady Teach by a Newsday reporter, Emily Sachar covers the New York City school woes with lots more detail. True Notebooks by Mark Salzman spells out one year in a Los Angeles school by a teacher of writing. Another Planet is writer Elinor Burkett's year in a Minnesota suburban high school. None of these has Halpin's energy but each has the advantage of greater specificity. And if you are looking for prescriptions for ameliorating the messes detailed in these books I'd tell you to read anything by John Taylor Gatto, John Holt or Frank Smith. But don't hold your breath. Neither Halpin's book, nor the American secondary education system have, at present, a happy ending.

By T Mac This book sounded like it would have a "cute" plot, setting, etcetera, so I downloaded the sample to see if I would be interested in reading it. I made it partway down the first page, and decided that I would not be interested in reading further. Ordinarily, I would not submit a review; however, I consider it appropriate to provide my observations as a warning for other literate readers, considering the number of five-star, glowing, reviews of this (currently) semi-literate effort. My advice is to await a second edition which has been proofread by someone who will use a red pen on the awkward constructions intended as purple prose, who will move the prose further towards English and not leave it modern urban slang, and who would check oddities of meaning using a dictionary.The book's second sentence is "Rose's stomach tumbled and a wave of heat swept her as she took in his rugged handsomeness". This stopped me, with the immediate thought, "How awkward!" I'd heard of stomachs "rumbling", but the thought of one "tumbling" evoked thoughts of an action that gets one sent quickly downwind, to hang over a chamber pot (or a lee rail). "Took in", in a historical novel, would have been, then, "observed", or "noticed", or something politely synonymous, that did not couple the verb "to take" with a preposition to alter meaning. I'd not seen the construction "rugged handsomeness" before (coupling a grading adjective (rugged) with a three-syllable noun derived *itself* from a gradable adjective), and I believe "ruggedly handsome" better prose (yes, of course, requiring a verb for proper parsing). When I got down to the fifth sentence and encountered "silly widgets", referring to silly (aberrant?) engineering devices, or "gadgets", I decided that anyone who had placed a five star rating upon this was somewhat of a silly widgeon, themselves.Since I am just an engineer, and not even a grammarian or English major, yet I noticed these oddities so readily, I thought to do a favor for those whose pleasure in the cutesy story might be adversely affected by blatant misuses of the English language. I provide two stars since I don't "hate" this, but view it in the terms that two-star doggerel has its place, while holding to the perspective that only "poetry" is worthy of five stars.

It's sweet, not over the top.Rosie and Alex's families have been blaming each other for the deaths of their firstborn sons. The boys died during a war, and each family thought to blame the other son for influencing the other for enlisting.These days it sounds lame, but during that era, this story is plausible.As a result Alex and Rosie have been unable to be in each other's company. As they have been each other's best friend since childhood,it has given them longing for each other's company.Rosie decides to break the feud and speak to Alex when she discovers a plot against him. And there our story begins.

Es una perpectiva totalmente diferente y recomiendo a todos los Padres de Familia leer esta excelente guía. Son sus Hijos diciendole a ustedes Padres como fueron Educados y que los llevo a la Excelencia a tan corta edad sin dejar de lado su niñez. Como sus Padres se preocuparon de formar a sus Hijas desde muy temprana edad, a creer en ellas mismas, a ser emprendedoras, exitosas, a no esperar a la vida adulta para aprender y tener las herramientas necesarias. Great resource guide By Takiyah Baltimore-Nelson This book is a great resource for someone who is starting a career in a position to help individuals with disabilities; or for those that work with someone who has a disability. The latter group may include more people than one realizes. Many of us work with people that have undisclosed disabilities and you may never know. The New Face of Disabilites by Melica Niccole helps bring understanding to those that are unaware of different resources available in Ohio. I recommend this book to new workers in the field.

I have a learning disability, which sometime creates a barrier for me due to being misunderstood. My learning is different then most individuals. I never disclose this when applying for jobs in fear that my application would be denied. Knowing that I have this disability drives me to work even harder. If all employers would pick up this book and open there eyes to these faces, maybe it would help remove someone out of poverty. These faces are over look because know one is willing to take the time to learn about these job applicants and the resource that can help process these valuable workers. If you reads this book it will help open your eyes to this disability and give you resources.

About the Author Denise Trager Since 2000 Denise has been an adjunct instructor of communication at the Florida State College Jacksonville (FSCJ), as well as a private practice tutor in speech therapy and reading. Denise has a Master's degree in Speech Corrections from Hofstra University, and a M.E. D. in Mental Health Counseling. She is also Board Certified Licensed in Florida for Speech Pathology. Mary Ellen Panaccione Mary Ellen has a Master's degree in Music Education from Ithaca College and a Bachelor's degree in Piano Performance from the State University of NY (SUNY) at New Paltz. She has taught piano privately for over 35 years. The life-long friends were born in a small town in upstate New York and by chance wound up living and raising families within miles of each other, in northern Florida. A compelling look into the world of drug abuse By Charles Asher The subject of drug abuse in literature often falls prey to two extreme, and ineffective, treatments— naïve glorification, or moral sentimentalization. Both, apart from their lack of literary substance, can border on the irresponsible. Such stylistic modes misrepresent the far-reaching consequence of drugs, either by neglecting the experiential impetus for abuse, or somehow justifying narcotics existentially. Kevin Munro’s compelling collection of short stories, The Chronicles of Stink Chicken: Episodes, however, eschews these hackneyed treatments. There is neither maudlin, soapbox kitsch, nor a ‘pseudo-hip’ rationalization of addiction. The book is honest; the book is powerful; the book is terrifying and humorous and true. The Chronicles of Stink Chicken: Episodes draws on the author’s own experience of youth, revelry, and heartbreak as a young man in Australia. Pulling influence (and often biographical and anecdotal fact) from the lives of his school friends, Mr. Munro explores the world of drug abuse with an immediacy borne from experience and a concomitant objectivity produced from thorough social study and research.
