I was able to revamp my first week of school survival binder with ease. Between this book and Harry Wong's Classroom Management book I believe that I'm set.

I am entering teaching through an alt. track, so I didn't receive formal training in these areas. I am happy to have this book as a resource!

9 of 13 people found the following review helpful. I liked the previous version better. By Mara I usually borrow this book from the library. I figured since I use it every year, I might as well buy it. I bought the updated version, thinking it would be pretty much the same thing but improved. Each grade level section is color-coded, making it easier to find the section needed, but it seems like the explanations of the activities were better in the old version. It is a great book, so I went ahead and bought the old version too. I moved from 4th to 6th grade, so I am not completely familiar with the activities outlined for 5th and 6th grades.

About the Author

DAVID HALTON, formerly the CBC News's Senior Correspondent in Washington D.C., is one of Canada's most acclaimed journalists. Throughout his career, he was The National's Paris-based correspondent, reporting on the de Gaulle government, Israel's Six Day War, and a coup in Greece. He was the CBC's Moscow correspondent between 1967 and 1968 and later covered events in the Middle East and the war in Vietnam. In addition, he was the chief political correspondent in Ottawa from 1978 to 1991. In 2005, Halton was presented with one of the most prized Gemini awards, the Gordon Sinclair Award for Broadcast Journalism.

A candid portrayal of one of Canada's finest war correspondents by his son By John Dickey A candid portrayal of one of Canada's finest war correspondents by his son. There's much to learn as David recounts interesting factual details as to how Hitler and the Third Reich emerged as a major (frightening) force in Europe. The book includes some startling reminders of many countries (ours included) innocent views of Hitler and the Catholic Churches initial approval of his efforts.In my opinion highly recommended reading for anyone interested in World War 2.

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Wonderful book! By Winston Marsalles Wow, I was really impressed with this book. The artwork is very clever and full of details. Every time I pick up the book I spot something cute in the illustrations that I missed earlier. I lost my dog Wyatt, last August. This book deals with the death of a boys dog, but does so in an eye opening way. I was laughing and crying at the same time. Great artwork and witty writing style. I'm looking forward to another book by James Manda.

My nephew loved all of the illustrations this book contained - one on every page - so there were a lot of exciting things for him to look at. The story was so original and endearing, something anyone with a pet, friend or relative who has passed away can relate to. Death can be such a powerful, scary topic, but this was approached very gently and with such innocence. I could tell the author has worked with children because there was such an element of wonder and curiosity here. I am definitely looking forward to the next story by Manda and I would definitely recommend this to children, parents, teachers and anyone looking for an endearing, emotionally engaging book.

He currently works for Comcast SportsNet New England and serves as co-host of NFL Sunday on Sportsradio 850 WEEI. He lives in Huntington, West Virginia. Mike Reiss is a reporter and analyst for ESPNBoston.com who has covered the Patriots since 1997. He lives in Westwood, Massachusetts.

Incredibly well written and engrossing book about one of the most amazing underdog to Champion stories in the NFL. Troy Brown is a major contributor to the Patriot dynasty in all three phases of the game, Offense, Defense and Special Teams and is the perfect player and leader. As Bill Belichick said, "Nobody had more leadership than Troy Brown did."

And that’s fitting, because Troy Brown was a very workman like special teamer and wide receiver for the New England Patriots for 15 years.The first few chapters Brown tells about his life growing up very poor in South Carolina and sports being his primary outlet. Being on the smaller side he had to work hard and out compete other players to get ahead. His entire football career is defined by that.While he had a standout career in high school, he was not highly recruited and ended up playing junior college. Luckily he caught the eye of a coach at Marshall University in West Virginia and received one of the last scholarships. He went on to have an excellent career at Marshall winning the 1992 Division I-AA National Championship as a receiver and kick returner.Troy Brown was drafted in the 8th round by the New England Patriots in the 1993 draft and almost didn’t even make the team. He was cut at the end of Preseason and thought his football dream was dead, but luckily for the Patriots, Coach Bill Parcells re-signed him in October. He spent most of his first seven seasons with the Patriots primarily as a kick returner, and slowly got a chance to start getting in the rotation as receiver as time went on.His first year as a full-time starter was 2000, when new coach Bill Belichick saw something in his work ethic and talent that he really liked. It was the right call. In 2001 Brown had 101 catches and a pivotal role in the offensive as New England went on to upset the St. Louis Rams in Super Bowl XXXVI. He also had an excellent year in 2002.But, when 2003 rolled around, Troy Brown was relegated to a lesser role in the receiving care. He had been in the league 10 years at the point and the younger, fresher legs of the likes of Deion Branch were highlighted. But Brown played a pivotal when New England went on to win back to back Super Bowls in Super Bowls XXXVIII and XXXIX.Troy admits being upset that he didn’t start in the Super bowl XXXVIII against the Panthers but he played a pivotal role catching eight passes for 76 yards. The following year Brown spent larges amounts of time playing defensive back because of injuries and again played a pivotal role in Super Bowl XXXIX covering the Philadelphia Eagles slot receivers. He is a jack of all trades.Troy Brown certainly didn’t want to retire after his 15 years in the league but father time caught up with him. He had a great career as a lifelong New England Patriot.This book will give the reader lots of insights into the character of Troy Brown and what it was like to be on championship winning teams and what it means to persevere. If your a fan, obviously you will love this book.If your a hater of the Patriots, but want a true story of how a guy who came from next to nothing, thru hard work achieved everything, I think you will enjoy this book. No one worked harder than Troy Brown.No one gave him anything, he went out and did the work, and achieved greatness, literally on his own. He was laboring in the heat on a farm, working working working, with his eyes on a football career. People doubted him, but he never let what other people think stop him. Its no surprise the Pats won like they did when you think about the guys like Troy,and Vrabel,and Phiper, and Faulk, and Willie Maginest and sooooo many others I cant bother to name them all,on the same team. These guys KNEW HOW TO WIN!!!

You'll be better off getting yourself a more comprehensive textbook that has a chapter on preferred stock. There is nothing new or contemporary in this book either -- it really is very boilerplate and could have been written in 1980 versus 2015. It provides no advice for an investor on how to use preferreds in the context of an overall portfolio. I threw my copy in the garbage it was so disappointing.

By Don Kidwell Big, bold illustrations with silly sayings like "Harry the hummingbird holds Hector the hamster" (I sure would like to see a hummingbird lift an object over 50 times their body weight, tho it did intrigue me to learn later that an ant can lift 5,000 times its body weight - WOW!) A good book for learning your ABCs and I did rather enjoy it!
