Jesus and Pocahontas recounts the life of Pocahontas from her first sighting of English colonists when she was around ten years old, through her love affair with and marriage to John Rolfe and her conversion to the Christian faith and life in England . Woven into each part of this account are explanations of the many different ways in which this story influences our current perception of gospel, mission and nationhood.

Realistic Assessment of Pocahontas and Her Conversion to Christianity By DoctorKC Well written and balanced view of the life of Pocahontas, who willingly became a Christ-follower through the influence of several English settlers in Jamestown and successive settlements. From her first encounter with Captain John Smith to her biblical education by the Rev. Alexander Whitaker aided by Deputy Governor Thomas Dale to her romance with Gentleman John Rolfe, Snyder makes a strong case that this was no forced conversion to a cultural English religion, rather a real experience with Jesus Christ through people who followed him, through the witness of Scripture, and by the grace of God. Snyder does not pull any punches. He portrays the English realistically in all of their own shortcomings and sin. Yet he argues forcefully that Pocahontas, who chose the biblical name Rebekah (from Genesis 24-25) at her baptism, was discerning enough to understand human depravity and still accept the truth of the Gospel. This is a must read for students of Pocahontas, the first permanent settlements in America,as well as those who are interested in the history of cross-cultural missions.

Das zauberhafte Salzburg, durch das die Salzach fließt, ist Landeshauptstadt des gleichnamigen Bundeslandes und liegt inmitten des Salzburger Beckens. Iuvavum lautete der Name der Stadt zu Zeiten der Römer. Im 6. Jahrhundert erfolgte die Besiedelung der Gegend durch die Bajuwaren. 696 erfuhr Salzburg eine Neugründung als Bischofssitz und wurde 798 dann Sitz des Erzbischofs. Der Salzbergbau bescherte dem Fürsterzbistum um 1600 herum eine Zeit des Aufschwungs. Im Dreißigjährigen Krieg gelang es Salzburg neutral zu bleiben. Erzbischof Paris Graf Lodron ließ um die Stadt in 25 Jahren ein hervorragendes Verteidigungssystem errichten. Von 1772 bis 1800 war die Stadt das Zentrum der Spätaufklärung. 1816 fiel Salzburg endgültig an Österreich.

In a hut in the woods lived a girl and boy, little did they know their mother had a ploy. The boy was named Hansel and the girl was Gretel; They had nothing to eat or drink but water from a kettle! One day their mother told them to gather wood; just like little boys and girls should. they did not know their mother wanted them lost; whether deep in the forest or in a night’s frost. They followed their father out that day; it was cold but sunny for the month of May; in their pockets they had bits of bread to eat; as bread was such a big treat. They gathered wood in a forest so deep, It scared Gretel so and she began to weep. Suddenly they noticed their father was gone, the warmth was fading and so was the sun. They were lost and very alone, And the wind chilled them to the bone. But then there was a wonderful smell; It smelled of food- one could tell! They followed the scent with their little noses, past creepy trees and wild roses. Hansel and Gretel saw a house at the end, made out of sweets, what a wonderful blend! They ate from walls made of cake and sugar toast; Hansel stuffed his mouth the most. Suddenly, an old woman came into view; She crooned: “Who are you?” “Are you so hungry that you eat my house? Nibbling at my walls like a mouse? Oh you two look so thin, Come in my house, come in!” Hansel and Gretel followed hag inside; She asked: “What else have you tried? Do you want to try the cupcakes and the muffins too? Have some cookies with icing red and blue!” There was a large cauldron and oven for baking; Delicious little children were in the making! All of a sudden, Hansel found himself in a bag; And he cried “Let me out of here, you hag!” Gretel did what the witch asked her to do, She cleaned and fed her brother a lot too. The witch wanted to eat them fat; She was going to put Hansel first in a sugary vat! She was ready to cook Hansel that day; And turn him into little cookies on a tray. For Hansel this was very dire… when suddenly Gretel pushed the hag into the fire! Gretel locked the oven real tight; and the witch screamed with all her might. Hansel and Gretel were finally free- away from the witch’s baking and sorcery. They found their way back to their home; a whole night did they roam. Their father was filled with joy; safe was his little girl and his little boy! The townspeople knew of the story; and how the witch’s end was gory. Heroes they returned to be; the whole town was afraid of the witch you see. Now they were a family once more; taking care of each other better than before. Hansel and Gretel would never starve again; gone forever was the witch’s reign! And the moral of this story is: There are times when you are called to be brave and there are times when you will need help and that help won’t come from Mom or Dad or the people you know. You don’t have to worry about all strangers. Some will be good and some will be bad. Strangers will come in all forms of people. Don’t forget that when you’re being brave, you also have to decide if the person trying to help you is someone truly nice and trust worthy. Download your copy today!

Awesome Hansel and Gretel Rhymed Tale ♥ By Caroline I am nine years old and think this rhyming version of Hansel and Gretel is so much fun and different from other Hansel and Gretel stories. It’s easy to read and understand and I also like this book because the drawings are super cute and so far the cutest in the series but the story itself is still a bit scary. Most people know that Hansel and Gretel’s parents were so not helpful to them when there was not enough food, that the parents put them in danger leaving them in a forest that they ended up coming across a scary witch that wanted to eat them.Well, I think it’s a sad and scary tale but the tale has an important message that is really good for kids like me. It teaches us that we can be in danger and sometimes parents can’t help us and that maybe some strangers like the witch might or might not be a good person so we have to be careful just incase. And that we can use our smarts and be brave to help ourselves and others just like Gretel, who I think is the hero in this story. =)I can’t wait to read the next book in this series and I think others should know about the meanings in tales like these because if all kids thought everyone was good more bad people could hurt us because we didn’t know and that would be very bad for us. =(So tales like this can be super helpful !!

1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Seemed Rushed By ShaSeli Gotta Have Faith is the third installment in the Wolf Mates Series by Dakota Cassidy. This was a short read that I did not enjoy as much as the first two installments in the series. It seemed that Ms. Cassidy knew Faith deserved her own story and wanted to bring Brock back, by was in a rush to do so. It was a cute story but, there are too many gaps in explanation that I could not reconcile. I hope there are more books in this series that are more like the first book and less like this third one.

It was a great short read but it felt crammed. I felt like the entire revelation of Brock being Eli and were he's been in the past five years was all summed up in one chapter, the rest was him pretending to be Eli. This should of been a longer read, there was just so much going on for 70 pages. I'm not sure if there will be a book 4 but I will still totally read it.

Then he is held for 5 years a prisoner. He goes back to pack in disguise to save his family from the pain, that he was unable to get the curse remove. Faith knows something is more to the one called Eli. this story is a must read. Make sure you read the series in order.OVERALL IMPRESSION OF THE BOOK: This is awesome book, another great book in the seriesMY RATING: 5 Hearts *****

At first i was a bit more hesitant because many books come out claiming to know the secret to success. When i read the first few pages, I knew this was no ordinary book. I couldn't put it down. I read 90 pages in one sitting. The wisdom of both ancient cultures and modern philosophies shared are truly remarkable. It is one of those books that you read and get a wake-up call. I loved it. It is an excellent writing that keeps the mind refreshed and energized page by page.

He uses quotes from philosophers and successful people, coupled with his insightful laws about how success in this world works. I can't say that I totally agree with everything he has to say, maybe if I was more successful I would agree more, but he definitely has some ideas worth trying. I think his most important idea is that if you want more (whatever more is to you) you need to become more and be willing to help others become more. He explains it better. If you are interested in personal success, either learning why you aren't or trying to become more so, this book is a worthwhile read!I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review!

Clearly Written, Full of Real Keys to Success in Life By Jill This book is one of the best I have read in the genres of success and personal development (and I have read a lot of them).Virend and Verusha even go into the scientific background of the principles they teach. They explain these discoveries in such simple language that makes it easy to understand why these principles are so important.Every chapter ends with a list of "Hidden Truths" and then a page for you to jot down some "Ah ha moments" you received as you read the chapter.I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. My copy is well marked, and I am in the process of rereading the book and making notes.This is an outstanding book .. one that would be impossible to read without having at least a few "ah ha moments" (I am sure quite a few).
