Ask Yourself: Getting Back To Being Your Brother's Keeper, by Felicia Benton

From the Author The inclination of someone actually asking some hard-core questions about themselves has become a fleeting concept within this rush-rush, me-me society. And we can practically forget the notion that what we do, as insignificant as we may believe it is, can affect society as a whole. We have become a people that is too egotistical and too judgmental of others to focus on self and what we are doing wrong. It is a choice not to see how we control the flow of chain reactions within society or even within our personal circles and often decide to say that this turmoil that we all live in "has nothing to do with me".

From the Back Cover We always think about our actions, but how many of us question the effect our actions have on those around you. Ask Yourself: Getting Back to Being Your Brother's Keeper is an appeal to readers regardless of age, race, gender, belief system, or hierarchy within society to be truly responsible for their actions. This book is designed so that the path to self-enlightenment, truly getting back to being a keeper of your fellow man and working together at one accord can once again be a formidable thought within the human consciousness if people...as we move about within our everyday lives... begin to think of not just the act, but the consequences of our actions and the chain of reactions (be it positive or negative) that flows from and to us.

About the Author Desiring a more positive way of thinking for everyone is the reason Felicia became a writer. Ultimately, positive thinking leads to a better way of living and co-existing. Like so many of us she experienced many ups and downs in life (for example, violently loosing her father at the age of 7). And like most of us, her downs outweighed the ups. She took those downs and reversed them.  She used her own negative and positive actions as observation and learning tools. Even at a young age, she was blessed with the ability of analyzing and dissecting the why's and what ifs within any situation. This ability along with reading books like Wherever You Go, There You Are: Mindfulness Meditation in Everyday by Jon Kabat-Zinn became a subliminal way of serious self-inspection. She often found that her own actions and inter-actions with people could change a situation from negative to positive.  With this book, she believes that a positive chain-reaction in how we treat each other can form, which would make for a better world. This is something we all want.

It makes you think about you and the everyday little things that we do. This book makes you take a look at how your own actions affect a situation. If more people took a real close look at themselves a paid attention to their own actions truly affected those around them, and actually cared about the effect of our acts, then there is a possibility of some form of peace for us! I highly recommend this book!
