This one was just sweet and there was no real angst in it. Which, on the other hand, means it was not a wow-book. And there were things about it that bugged me.Greg grew up in abusive surroundings with alcoholic parents. When it finally got to be too much, he escaped and was offered a job and a home on Travis's ranch.About four years later Greg is still crushing on Brian, a friend of the ranch owners Travis and Jaron. We get the impression he's been watching Brian secretly from a distance and does not really know him. And yet very early after they begin to actually communicate, we get thoughts like"Then Brian's face would pop into his mind and Greg knew he wanted a future with the sweet little accountant."Now, Brian may be physically smaller, but still; Greg is twenty years old and Brian nearly thirty? That quote just does not fit that. But, of course, they do get together - I loved how Brian made Greg work for it after he messed up and pushed Brian away. But then one day Greg walks in on Brian sitting quite comfortably in the lap of a guy he's been seeing in the past for casual hookups. Seriously? What's up with that? Greg and Brian were definitely a couple at this point and although Brian might have shown some slutty behaviour in the past, we have learned nothing about his character that would make this kind of behaviour from him seem logical. Let's just say I was just as surprised as Greg was!Any good things in this book? Absolutely. Apart from some 'oddities' as mentioned above, I loved Greg and Brian together. And Greg's way of making it up to Brian after he hurt him was - if maybe a bit clichéd - seriously romantic. The book also had some amazing supporting characters. Travis and Jaron's son, Carter, standing out:"Daddy's coming to go ride with me but he got distracted.""Oh yeah?"Carter scrunched his face up in disgust. "Papa started kissing him.""I see where that might hold him up some," Greg tried to remain serious, not pulling it off very well."They do that all the time. My parents are so weird."I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Really liked it:) By Teecee *A free copy of the book was provided by the author in exchange for an honest review*This is the second book in the Pickleville Series but it can be read as a standalone.Greg is a sixteen years old kid that has had a bad childhood because of his alcoholic parents, who liked to beat each other. One day, after a huge fight, Greg sees blood on the floor and runs away but it gets stopped by one of his neighbors (his parents yell a lot when they fight and everybody can hear them). Greg doesn’t want to go back home especially after seeing his parents getting arrested and the next day, he meets a man called Travis and in some ways, he saved the poor teenager: Travis offers him a job and Greg’s life will change forever.Four years passed and Greg is studying to become a large animal vet and he’s been in love with a guy called Brian for four years but he’s very shy and Brian doesn’t know that Greg has any kind of interest in him.In this story we see Greg&Brian’s love story, Greg anger issues (his anger towards his father after reading his letter after his death… Greg destroyed half of Travis’ kitchen. I would have done the same!! Plus, his jealousy towards Brian makes him behave really bad and Brian is scared by him. And another rage episode got him almost killed. I have to say that Brian sitting in other guys’ lap was something that totally make me furious like it did Greg).his anger towards his father after reading his letter after his death… Greg destroyed half of Travis’ kitchen. I would have done the same!! Plus, his jealousy towards Brian makes him behave really bad and Brian is scared by him. And another rage episode got him almost killed. I have to say that Brian sitting in other guys’ lap was something that totally make me furious like it did Greg. Don’t worry…if you love a story with a HEA, don’t miss this very good story. The story is on Greg’s and Brian’s POV.4 to 5 stars.

By Pati May I received this book from the author through the m/m romance group's Don't Buy Me Love Program in exchange for a fair and honest review. This story certainly started out with a bang and managed to draw me right in and keep my attention through to the end. There was no way that I could resist getting to know Greg Mitchell after the truly unique way he handled the opening scene. Not that I totally believed it because having lived through similar experiences I just know better, yet I was intrigued and liked him nonetheless. Watching him moon over nerdy, spoiled, overly flirtatious Brian Stockwell was adorable and cemented my liking him. Ms. Kelley certainly gives us very sweet but not too nice, over the top yet likable characters. Not only our MCs, Greg & Brian but their friends as well. This is the second book in the Pickleville Series though I missed reading the first. On one hand I'd like to say that it's a standalone because I wasn't so lost that I couldn't enjoy the story. However, I was confused at times and it was abundantly clear that I'd missed a lot and no attempt was made to fill in the back story for new to the series readers. Therefore I'd personally suggest reading these in order from book #1. Unfortunately, I found small town Pickleville impossible to believe. Apparently homophobia just doesn't exist there. Though it seems like an after thought we are told twice that it had, none of the characters actions supported it. Furthermore, just how many openly gay men can one small town have?! Sadly, those are just a few of many things that I found unbelievable. Even more unfortunate are the many errors that distracted me from the story....enduring/endearing; to/too; the/that; said/say; on/in; than/then; wanted/wanting; also misspelled & missing words. I just want to close by saying that through all of the errors & disbelief I did continue to like and enjoy these characters and would say that this is a light, sweet, fairly short (125 pages according to Amazon) story.
