1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Three compelling stories By Doug Erlandson This second collection of short stories with the title "Railroad Tales" takes up where volume 1 left off. Like the first volume there are three short stories. Separating the short stories are three sets of "Thoughts From a Corrupted Soul," which consist of philosophical musings by the author. Even if this was all there was, they would be worth the price of the book. (The first volume also has a set of "Thoughts From a Corrupted Soul.")The first of the three short stories, "Mystery in Mrithika’s Murder- THE CHASE," is a continuation of a story begun in Volume 1. This is an action-packed thriller that holds the reader's attention.The second story, "Spawns of Death," is far and away the most poignant of them all. It recounts the valiant attempt of a female seal to protect her pups against the onslaught of the jackals.The last story, "The Sun Of Orathnad," has the aura of a work of science fiction and, until a strange twist at the end, appears to take place near the end of earth's history. The present volume contains only the first part of this work. It is scheduled to be continued in Volume 3.All three of the stories (along with the "Thoughts") make for compelling and absorbing reading.

The series is quite engaging and fun to read."Thoughts from a corrupted soul" is funny, short and also makes you think.Great use of english vocabulary as the first issue.Looking forward for the author to write novels which I can read for a longer period of time.Money's worth and a fascinating read. :)

The plight of the baby seals was described beautifully while the mother’s sacrifice melted my heart. The others were good too, but this particular one will linger within me for a long time…..
