In this book, Mikey explains how a young child with autism sees, hears, and feels the world around him in his school environment. Mikey is not just intended for educators; although, all teachers should read it to their classes. It is intended to educate adults as well as young children to increase their awareness and understanding of the child with autism. This book, and others to follow, was inspired by my vast experiences as a teacher working with children with autism.

We are in the process of explaining Autism to our younger son so learning about this book came at the perfect time! My son does a lot of the things mentioned in the book so it really helped my younger son understand why his older brother does the things he does. Such a great book! I may even buy more copies and give them to teachers at our school for their classroom library! Thank you so much for writing such a wonderful book!

My sons and I are on the spectrum and I found Mikey's experiences to be so reminiscent of our own. This book can serve as a wonderful conversation starter to help teachers prepare their students to be more supportive and accepting of a child on the autism spectrum.

By catherine dipiazza Because children could understand that a child different from them would like to be friends, and their quirks don't define them. I think my grandson at some point will read this book and understand himself better as he has aspergers. I gave the book to my daughter and she showed it to a few teachers and they loved the book and were going to read it in the classroom.
