This printing by "Martino Fine Books," the 2015 reprint of 1958 edition, does not have the same content or pagination as the second, revised edition published in 1968 by University of Texas Press and frequently assigned to students of folklore and fairy tales: Morphology of the Folktale (Publications of the American Folklore Society)The second, 1968 (U. Texas Press) edition linked above revised and reset the entire text, corrected innumerable errors and inconsistencies (in Propp's original as well as the 1958 translation), updated the numbering of tales to reflect the newer scholarly editions of Aleksandr Afanas'ev's three-volume collection, and improved the text's legibility greatly (for example, the schemes of tales in Appendix III, drawn by hand in the 1958 edition and hard to read, are in easy to follow in the second edition). The author's first name (Vladimir) doesn't even make it onto the cover of the "Martino Fine Books" edition, which will tip you off that it is one of the thousands of reprintings of out-of-copyright books that have sprung up like mushrooms all over bookseller sites. The cover image of Red Riding Hood, who is not represented in the Russian wondertale tradition, also suggests the degree of care that went into producing this book. This reprint of an outdated, out-of-copyright text is a cynical attempt to lure students into buying an inferior product that is hard to read and hard to use in class when their colleagues and instructor will be referencing the second edition. I assume that the translators and editors are not receiving royalties on this little beauty either. Please do the right thing and spend the extra few dollars for the U. Texas Press edition: Morphology of the Folktale (Publications of the American Folklore Society)

This decades old study is still relevent to anyone studying the writing of fiction. If you add your own imagination to the meaning of this material, it becomes a viable support to the writing of nearly any story. If not that for you, then it is helpful in the structure and analysis of all storytelling. Also search for the game "Once Upon a Time", based upon Propp's book. The game also now has its own writing handbook worth reading. See Atlas Games.

What happens when the very thing ruining your life ends up saving it? I was never one to believe in spirits—until six years ago, when a bone-chilling accident changed my life…forever. My name is Charlotte, but most people call me Char…and I have a special gift. I talk to the dead. Make no mistake, I can’t summon them. I’m only able to see and speak to the spirits that linger when they’re unable to crossover. They’re somehow weighted to the world with unfinished affairs. And for the last six years, I’ve relentlessly used my gift to help their lost souls. But it’s come at a price. My life is dark. Feeling despondent, I’ve begun to give up. And in helping the dead, I’ve realized I haven’t allowed myself to live. With no money, no place to go, and most importantly… no hope, I’ve decided there is only one option—to end it all. But fate is a funny thing. One minute, I’m about to leap to my death, and the next, I’m saved by Ike McDermott. The strong, striking soldier stopped me from putting an end to my despair. He’s the kind of man that smiles and brightens an entire room. Sweet and gentle. He is my savior. And he’s dead. We’ve made an agreement. He’ll help me find a place to stay and a new job if I’ll help him with his unfinished business so that he may crossover. Ike’s unfinished matter involves his twin brother, George. George has been falling apart since Ike’s death and Ike has not been able to compel himself to crossover in peace until he knows George will be okay. When I agreed to help, little did I know that I’d fall in love with the charming folks of Bath County, and…Ike and George McDermott. Now, as both brothers own equal parts of my heart, I am faced with a cruel and unfair predicament. In saving George, I must let go of Ike. But how does one let go of half of their heart?

Review "With the switch from one character's point of view to another, I always felt in the moment, and the change in narrator mixed it up perfectly as well." ---Kindles & Wine

About the Author B N Toler lives in Virginia. When she's not reading or writing, she's thinking about reading or writing. Before she became a self-proclaimed writer, she worked as a real estate agent and as an orthodontic technician. **She will notice your teeth before your eyes or hair or anything.** She enjoys shopping (way too much) and is on a first name basis with several employees at the local Target in her town. She loves music,(bluegrass, country, 80's, actually she loves most music ~her favorite song is American Pie by Don McLean and she worships anything that is Elvis and Johnny Cash and Eric Church) dancing, (even though she sucks at it)reading, writing, eating (too much) sleeping late, (which she rarely gets to do) and laughing. If you can make her laugh, she will love you forever.

Especially considering she's managed to completely knock my socks off with each new release. And Where One Goes is no exception.Let me start off by saying I am a HUGE fan of mediums, (those who can mediate communication between spirits of the dead and the living). I'm an avid viewer of Long Island Medium, and bawl like a baby every single time I watch it. So this book immediately struck a chord with me. I was curious and excited to read Ms. Toler's take on this particular subject, and it was without a doubt everything I had hoped it would be!A tragic accident has left Charlotte with the ability to talk to the dead. Not ALL those who have died, just the ones who have unfinished business and need help crossing over. She's been traveling for the past 5 years doing just that, except it hasn't been as rewarding or fulfilling as one might think. Helping these poor souls has done very little to help her battle (or ignore) her own inner struggles, leading Charlotte to make a heartbreaking decision. Yet when she's right about to put a very permanent end to her suffering she's saved by the most unlikely of heroes...Ike McDermott, a breathtakingly handsome solider...who happens to be dead. How perfect is that?!Ike is quickly able to talk some sense into her and promises to help her if she can return the favor. An even trade of sorts. With nothing left to lose Charlotte decides to give it a shot and follows Ike's directions, landing herself in Warm Springs. There she encounters the kindest group of people known to man who bend over backwards to help her, no questions asked. With her living situation taken care of for the moment, she manages to land herself a job where she meets George McDermott, Ike's brother...the favor.I don't really like to summarize books all that much, since you can get all that info by reading the synopsis, so I'll just leave it at that...which really isn't even all that much. There is so much more to this story than meets the eye. The further you read the more emotions, secrets and drama unfolds. I have to say I have never been as in love with a cast of characters as I am with this amazing bunch. It seems as though everybody Charlotte comes into contact with in this charming little town (with the exception of Misty, the she-devil) has the biggest heart and most welcoming, genuine demeanor. If I could live in a fictional town this would be the one I'd choose, hands down. They are just stellar supporting characters. While the story tends to get a little serious in nature at times there is plenty of comedic relief to keep you chuckling and enough drama to keep you teary eyed...or frustrated (where George is concerned). Ms. Toler has perfected the art of creating a well blended/balanced story giving you everything you could possibly want in a book. Her writing is on point, as always, and flows seamlessly from one scene to the next. There's never a dull moment. Whether it's funny conversations with Ike, romantic tension with George, heartwarming conversations with the townsfolk, or the not so obvious (to the living) love triangle, you will be entertained and captivated from beginning to end. Guaranteed. So of course I would HIGHLY recommend Where One Goes and ANYTHING else written by this amazingly talented author!

All I can think is where has BN Toler been all of my life? I absolutely LOVED this amazing book! I honestly couldn’t put this book down. I told my husband to leave me alone because all I wanted to do was read this story and find out how it ends! This is a paranormal romance book that has such a unique story line. I haven’t ever read anything quite like it. Toler creates interesting and witty characters that draw you in from the beginning. The Ike, Char, George triangle is so wonderfully written. There were parts of this story that had me cracking up. The banter between Char and Ike was addictive. I couldn’t get enough of those two together. Even the secondary characters shouldn’t even be called “secondary”. They were all so well developed. I was in tears reading this story, but that’s part of what made me love it so much. Who doesn’t wish they could some way converse with a love one that has passed away? I think people who don’t normally like paranormal books would like this one. There is a huge paranormal element to it, but after a while the reader sort of forgets that Ike is a ghost. He and Char have such normal conversations throughout the book. This is also a story of love, loss, healing, hope, and redemption. The ending was absolutely perfect! I don’t want to give spoliers away, but what Toler does with Ike and Char’s story, the way she ties it up is absolutely perfect! George and Char also get an ending that is very much to my satisfaction! At the end of the day, Toler writes a beautiful ending for our beloved trio. Here is one of my favorite excerpts:“Moments come and go; quick flickers in time. Yet those moments can have the profoundest impact on our lives. Either we seize them, and wield them to our needs, or we let them go. It’s the moments we let go that, I believe, remain with us strongest – because regret is something that never leaves us.”

PERFECT! *MUST READ*) By MG Reviews My ‘Blogging Reader’s Review’ after reading ‘WHERE ONE GOES’(via:BooksMoviesFandoms.wordpress.c o m):This is the first time I’ve read something from author B. N. Toler and I’m definitely a new fan. “Where One Goes” is of the Paranormal Romance genre and it has definitely captivated me as a reader. I have to admit that this has become one of my new absolute favorite novels. This novel is the first that has made me finally dish out my first perfect 5 rating, that’s how enamored I am with this story. Readers will get to enjoy this story from a total of three P.O.V.’s(point of views) from the main characters Charlotte “Char” Acres, Ike McDermott, and George McDermott. What would you do if you could see and talk with the dead? This is a question that Charlotte “Char” Acres has an answer to and has lived with this ability everyday since her near death experience. After the loss of her best friend/older brother Axel, she’s been a different person. Her parents didn’t understand her changes and assumed it was all just a part of her coping with the loss but there was more to it all. She feels alone, distant from those she once knew, and has been feeling down by the weight that comes with having only the dead to talk to. She doesn’t see all dead souls, it’s only those with unfinished business. Once their business is taken care of, they move on and Char is left alone again. Charlotte has helped many for the past few years but it has all finally started to get to her. With little money and no place left to call home, she’s ready to give up. Just as she’s about to end it all, someone intercepts her plan.Ike McDermott died at war. He comes from the friendly small-town called Warm Springs, Virginia. He was an attractive guy, shared a close relationship with his loving family and was best friend’s with his twin brother George. He’s been stuck feeling alone while he watches his family grieve for him helplessly. Unfortunately, his twin brother George is spiraling down a terrible path after receiving the news of Ike’s death. When Ike comes across Charlotte at one of his old favorite hang outs, he realizes that maybe they can help each other out. They make a deal that Char hesitantly agrees to; he will help her and in return, he needs her to help his twin from destroying his life. Along the way, a genuine friendship and strong feelings grow between a soul with unfinished business and the young woman who is the only one who can see or help him.George McDermott has always thought that his twin brother who also happened to be his best friend, was not only a great soldier but was the better of the two. When he received news about Ike’s death, it hit him so hard. He began using drugs to try and numb his pain and started having an unhealthy relationship with a woman who belonged to another. This wasn’t what he would normally act like but something snapped in him when he was hit with the great loss of the closest person in his life. Will he ever be able to truly grieve and fix his life before it’s too late for him to be saved?Charlotte comes to Warm Springs and quickly realizes that this town gives her hope and may actually offer her more than she could ever imagine. George is quick to not trust her. But she is determined to help out Ike and George. Ike and Charlotte begin growing an attachment with each other that makes their closeness hard to handle, knowing that soon they will have to say goodbye forever. As much as George tries to fight against Charlotte’s help, they both begin to develop feelings that they never expected toward each other. How will Charlotte handle her connection to both brothers? How will it all end? This novel is by far one of my absolute favorites! It’s mind-blowing, breathtaking, and emotionally gripping. My heart was all over the place with this one and I actually teared up more times with this story than I have with any other novel. It was exquisitely beautiful! The characters each pull you into the story in their own ways and add so much value to the storyline. Read this with your heart open and I promise you that you’ll be just as enthralled as I found myself. I didn’t want it to end because I knew what was coming but I just didn’t know exactly how it would all play out in the end. It did not disappoint. Their is humor, romance, suspense, heartbreak, and hope- all wrapped together in this wonderfully written novel. I highly recommend this one. You should definitely get a copy of this book and add it to your TBR list for sure. One of the best I’ve read! Bravo. My star rating for WHERE ONE GOES is: 5 out of 5 stars!!! :)Visit my Blog and see Memorable quotes and character photos of how I imagined them while reading WHERE ONE GOES.

In 2014, the story of Garys Demon House shocked the world, drawing millions into the terrifying tale of a contemporary exorcism. For many residents, however, ghosts are just part of the community. From the haunting of the Jackson Five to the ghost ship Flying Cloud, local legends abound. Ghostly echoes may linger from a fiery 1918 train wreck that claimed the lives of eighty-six circus performers. A young murderess, said to have drowned her children in the Little Calumet River, reportedly haunts the Cline Avenue freeway. And the spirit of Alice Gray, the most famous of myriad recluses, is said to remain in Duneland. Meet these and other eternal inhabitants of Americas Ghost Town with author Ursula Bielski.

Brown As a life-long Chicagoan and longtime fan of Ursula Bielski's "Chicago Haunts" book series, I was more than excited when I read that she had written a book about haunts in nearby Gary, Indiana! Bielski's brilliant command of historiography lends beautifully to her reporting Gary's rich collection of ghostlore and paranormal recitals. I am always amazed and intrigued by her fine descriptions of the settings' historic origins and the citizenry's triumphs and tragedies, details which always add to the horror, mystery, and poignancy of the tales. I foolishly read most of the book at night, just before bedtime. After certain stories (and the book, though small, has a good number of them), I was hesitant to turn off the lights and unable to fall asleep quickly. For a horror trooper like me, those were a signs that Bielski had succeeded in giving us another great book of frightening urban folklore. It's perfect reading for the Halloween season!

This not one of them. The stories themselves belong to those experiencing them, and I do not criticize them. However, it is important for a ghost book to have the history right, the locations right, and how about the spelling right. The city of Merrillville has two rs, not one. There are many spelling errors throughout the book. She used the term "nineteenth century" a few times when she clearly meant the twentieth, and "area code" for a telephone number when she meant the telephone exchange. There are location errors including:Reeder Road is miles away from the Calumet River. There is no Sheffield Avenue in Munster, the long-gone Nike base was on Calumet Avenue.Cline Avenue has been a heavily traveled modern road since the early 1960's, not after the 1980's as suggested. The Halls of Justice are in the Criminal Courts Building and not in the old jail and the John Dillinger Museum isn't in the old jail either, it's in the old Lake County Courthouse. All in Crown Point, Indiana.History errors include:That there were no Native villages in the area. Indian Town, McGwinn's Village, and Chiqua's Town are but three. The Hagenbeck-Wallace Circus Train wreck was on the Michigan Central Railroad not the South Shore. The accident did not happen because the troop train ran up the back of the circus train as she says. According to the newspaper accounts and two books written about the event the circus train had pulled off a siding for the night. However, the last cars of the train were still on the main track. It was those cars that the troop train hit. This book is riddled with easily avoidable errors.Ursula Bielski is considered to be a "ghostlore" expert in the Chicago area. She has appeared on television, radio, and has other books to her name. She should be held to a higher level where this sloppiness is unacceptable. The books feels as though it was hastily written. It is also permeated by the superior attitude often found when a Chicagoan writes a book about the Calumet Region.

0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. As Michael would say, "This is thriller, thriller night" By Ronald Smith In the past decade, Ursula Bielski has cemented her reputation as Chicagoland's reigning paranormal expert. In "Haunted Gary", she concentrates on an area many Chicagoans know little about-- Gary and Northwest Indiana. Frankly, her chapter on the city's notorious "demon house" (using interviews with the Roman Catholic priest who conducted three exorcisms on the woman involved) would be worth buying the book for all by itself. But she adds the facts surrounding Reeder Road, "Diana of the Dunes" and the city's most popular ex-citizen-- Michael Jackson. The book is entertaining (as all of Ursula's books are) and you don't necessarily have to believe in the supernatural to appreciate the tales. In fact, it makes for perfect reading around a campfire on the dunes as night approaches.

Almost all the books mentioned are available free downloads at either google books, gutenberg or internet archive in .pdf or epub. What makes this list especially nice is that it is broken down not by grade but by age. Most of these books have been lost to time which is such a pity.

2 of 11 people found the following review helpful. If you were alive in 1909, and had a child..... By N. J. Simicich If you were alive in 1909, and had a child, and wanted to amuse this child, in those days, so long ago, before there were TV sets, you'd probably find this book very valuable.Today it has little utility, save, perhaps, to historians. The editions that the author talks about are not available anymore, except, perhaps, in antique stores. Besides, today, most people don't generally feel that (for example) "Little Black Sambo" is delightful absurdity, we feel that it teaches a lesson in stereotypes that we don't want our children to learn anymore. The stories might be OK, but they shouldn't be told the way they are - and it is also probable that there are many similar lessons that we should now know that are reflected in the children's books (and editions) of today, that were not emphasized in the children's books and lessons of yesteryear.

Baja California is extreme. It is a strip of desert and cacti more than a thousand miles long, with the Pacific on one side and the Sea of Cortez on the other. Swept by strong winds, battered by giant waves, seared by the blistering summers, and surrounded by a sea rich in fish, it is nothing if not unique. This gastronomic and photographic adventure enables us to explore Baja California and its cuisine, a synthesis of traditional Mexican cooking and powerful influences coming from the American Southwest. For those who love pungent dishes, with chili packing a powerful punch, there is no place in the world better than Mexico. Burritos, huevos rancheros, guacamole, and tacos are dishes that everyone craves; and revisited in a Southern Californian key they become the cornerstones of a frontier region often neglected and, for this very reason, all the more authentic.

25 of 27 people found the following review helpful. No book for Baja chefs By Char Baja is a fascinating part of Mexico, with stark scenery, amazing and unique food, and incredible stories. I spent an amazing month there doing field research on biogeography years ago, and it imprinted itself on me. I was excited to see this book's wonderful photos and visual style, which captures Baja beautifully, but highly disappointed in its inclusion of irrelevant non-Baja material, and its vague, often catastrophically erroneous, frustrating recipes.Even a preliminary review of the recipes betrays some very significant flaws - one recommends roasting meat for four hours at 660F, a temperature not only totally inappropriate for anything short of a Neapolitan pizza but also one unreachable by most home ovens. Others specify ingredients that are simply not available in the US, like shredded venison and manta ray. Most instructions are extremely cursory and bear the hallmarks of a poor translation from Spanish - one would have to be an experienced cook to fill in the blanks and recognize the mistakes and flaws. Also, there's numerous recipes included that are either generically pan-Mexican or rooted in regions other than Baja, such as cochinita pibil and mole Poblano. And many features of the local cuisine, like the fascinating Baja-Mediterranean fusion cuisine of Tijuana and Ensenada, are not extensively discussed. It's really a shame - this is a terrible cookbook about a fascinating part of Mexico that's underrepresented in the cooking literature. Wish it were higher quality and better researched and written. It's gorgeously photographed and manages to convey the rugged, sea-and-desert purity of Baja, and the recipes that are authentically Californian are interesting in concept. But that's not enough. It is noteworthy that many of the reviews of this book are both very positive and extremely vague, posted by "Amazon Reviewers" with no other reviews written and no profile. I don't want to indulge in conspiracy theories, but I get suspicious when I see reviews that gush but provide no substantive details.

The cover is like old leather and the photos are so beautiful and so sumptuous you want to eat and drink every recipe. The history that is included is also fascinating and part of the books charm. Anyone who loves Mexican cuisine will love this book even if they can't cook.

7 of 7 people found the following review helpful. A Thrilling, Unpredictable Ride By Sarah B. Cate Archer isn't your typical fourteenth century heroine. She's an enigma--a rather exquisite combination of untapped innocence and savior. She's young and slight, barely more than a girl, yet she alone is depended upon to bring food to her entire village--men, women, and children--perhaps because she's willing to hunt where no one else will: the king's land. But sustenance isn't the reason she's there. She's there for murder.Following her father's death at the hands of the king, she vows vengeance. The problem is, she's not sure who the murderer was...only that he was a representative of the king. So she takes to the king's forest, systematically eliminating representatives of the crown. After she sends back a tax man's head, sans his body, her personal message to the king makes her a wanted woman. And Lord Owen Gray wants her bad. What should have been a simple imprisonment turns into a tenuous bond between enemies, then a love affair. But what's forbidden turns dangerous when members of the king's guard find Owen with Cate. With both their lives on the line, Owen's next move stings of betrayal, leaving Cate to question everything she believed about the man who didn't just claim her body, but her heart. Despite his assurances, he still harbors a secret...a deadly one. And the next victim of that secret just might be her.THE ARCHER'S DAUGHTER, MacKinnon's sophomore release, is a well written historical romance craftily woven in the context of England's 1381 Peasant Revolt. It's an interesting time period--one we don't see often within the realm of historical fiction--but the story isn't lost to the telling of facts. Rather, readers will find THE ARCHER'S DAUGHTER is a thrilling, unpredictable ride that will leave readers breathless until the final twist--one no fan of historical romance should miss.ARC provided for review

6 of 6 people found the following review helpful. A real page turner! By Jodi Clouser Another slam dunk for Ms. MacKinnon! The Archer’s Daughter is a thrilling tale of adventure, honor, loyalty, and, of course, sizzling romance. Cate Archer has one mission: avenge her father’s death, or die trying. Owen Grey has a mission of his own: capture the rebel who’s been murdering every tax collector that comes her way. It seems the odds are stacked against them… but when they find themselves joining forces to fight a common enemy, romance ensues. As they grow closer, they once again find themselves in peril, leaving Cate reeling, wondering if their budding relationship had been a well-played ruse all along. When Owen’s true intentions are revealed, will Cate be left swinging from the gallows?Once again, MacKinnon’s superb writing whisks the reader away to a time long ago. Her impeccable attention to detail makes you feel as if you are right in the thick of the action. You will almost forget you’re reading a book! The action scenes are so fast-paced, you will be turning pages at record speed to see what happens next. Time after time I found myself holding my breath in anticipation! I highly recommend this great read!ARC provided for review

Never have I read a short story of this genre with as detailed a story plot and characters as this one. This is the perfect combination of romance and excitement. I could watch the scenes in my mind perfectly. The words came right off the page!

One broken heart. One battered soul. No one said life would be fair or easy. Quiet, Peruvian-born artist Cassie Lopez learned this the hard way. Betrayed by the man she planned to marry, she shut herself off as far away from all but her closest friend from college… Until the night Luke Denton came crashing into her Colorado mountain sanctuary with a vengeance. Confused by her heart's response to this kind and gentle man, Cassie pushes herself to help the cowboy recover quickly so she can send him on his way. But Luke’s patience and understanding threaten to break down the very defenses she needs to survive in this world after he's gone. Search-and-Rescue worker Luke, who lost his wife and unborn child in a tragic accident, also knows firsthand of the unfairness of life. He keeps his own nightmares at bay by focusing on his rescue activities, most recently adopting and working with abused and neglected horses. Can two wounded people find trust and love together? Do nightmares end where dreams come true? SPECIAL NOTE: This book contains a number of chapters that focus on the continuing journey of Adam and Karla Montague. Rather than publish it as a separate short novel, Kallypso Masters chose to incorporate them into Luke and Cassie’s story. But it’s a bonus for readers who get an enormous book—for a much longer Rescue Me Saga visit with some of the couples you love! If you haven’t read the prior books published in the Rescue Me Saga, please catch up before continuing the saga. The reading order: MASTERS AT ARMS & NOBODY’S ANGEL NOBODY’S HERO NOBODY’S PERFECT SOMEBODY’S ANGEL NOBODY’S LOST NOBODY’S DREAM

48 of 55 people found the following review helpful. WOW!!!! By Shauni Originally Reviewed For: Tea and BookWhen you read a series you have certain expectations, you have bonded with the characters and want more of past characters as well as learning about this particular couple By choosing to write a saga instead of a series, Kallypso Masters, has mastered that concept. We don't just get glimpses of beloved characters from previous books, they are active participants in the current book. Sure some of them just blink in and out, they are off having their own lives during this part of the saga, not every character belongs in every story Just like real life there are some things you don't get to attend..The Rescue Me Saga is a brilliantly woven tapestry.. but most of the stories are Wild and Wanton, this dark and seething storm of passions. A Summer thunderstorm full of power, electricity swirling constantly. Nobody's Dream is the gentle rain that comes after the storm. The softly falling drops that soothe, that allows the sun to slowly peak through, a single beam of light that falls upon your arm, caressing and bringing hope.Luke and Cassie are two wounded souls, two individuals coming back from a darkness so deep it's a show of strength that they chose to go on. A beautiful story, A sensual kiss of hope rather than the sexual intensity portrayed in the rest of the Saga and that's how this story should have been written. For those of you who are interested in Kally but don't really go for BDSM.. then this is your book! Yes, Luke is a dominant personality and yes he has an interest in the possibility of BDSM but he knows what his Cassie needs and it isn't crazy monkey sex..Cassie Lopez has been a pivotal character since Karla and Adam's story, Nobody's Hero. We have watched her slowly connect with other females but she is extremely wary of men, a rape survivor. But in her story, we discover the depth of the atrocity she suffered and the total loss of faith. The betrayal she feels towards everyone, her faith, her family her very culture. There is a reason why she totally despairs Why she remains on her mountain for all intensive purposes, hidden. That is until Luke comes literally crashing into her home.Luke Denton, is a widower, having watched his wife and unborn child die in a spring avalanche. He was totally unaware of the powers of nature and had no clue what could happen. Watching his family die destroyed him, watching the SAR worker die along with them, filled him with guilt. If only... Now, 8 years later he is not only a SAR (Search and Rescue) member he saves abused horses and trains them. A true Renaissance man, he is a carpenter and artist, musician and friend. Loyal to those he calls friend. When he is determined to make sure Cassie makes it home one stormy night, he discovers that sometimes he too needs to be saved.Trapped by an avalanche these two are forced to learn to deal with each other. While Luke is a gentle man, Cassie remains skittish and afraid. It takes more than just words to prove he can be trusted. Slowly, second by second they began a friendship that turns into more..What Kally does in this book is spectacular These two find a way to heal. I am not sure if they heal each other or if they begun to heal themselves because of the other. But it's a beautiful process. Watching Cassie face her betrayal and learn to accept in her head AND heart that not all men are going to betray her is so well written. Kally doesn't do one of those.. ok, it's chapter two and heroine must have sex.. nope, she treats her tenderly and watches her blossom. While Luke and Cassie are slowly healing there is a lot more going on with the Rescue Me Gang.. Karla finally has those babies.. and wow, what fun Kally gives us there! Can't say much about it but it's totally worth the wait.. I will say that Kally is an evil wench and throws in some great surprises..We don't see tons of Damian and Savannah or Marc and Angel and even less of Grant but we do get some of each of them. And we see how each of their relationships are progressing.I will say this book made me cheer.. can't tell you where but it was a totally kick ass scene.. And it made me cry.. can't say where that happened either. But both scenes were so very powerful and truly wonderful. What Kally does probably better than almost every other writer I enjoy is to bring out my emotions in depth. I am invested in these characters, in a very special way they are real. Yes, I know it's fiction but Kally makes them special and allows a reader to bond with them. A true gift.I seriously recommend this book. To everyone. It moves away from Kally's traditional BDSM because this story requires something different. Something tender and true. But it retains Kally's signature emotional bonding. Her group of individuals that have created a family that stands together throughout any storm. And now we must wait for the next book.. Seriously Kally.. write faster!!Shauni

If you have not read Kallypso Master's Rescue Me Series, you are missing an extraordinary author and the phenomenal characters she brings to life. You will NEVER be disappointed when you read one of Kally's books.I have been trying to find the words to describe this amazing book, but I come up short! Magnificent, incredible, outstanding, soul-searching, and so many other adjectives! I'm not one to re-hash the storyline in my review, so I will merely say, this book is AMAZING!Even though we have been waiting patiently (not really!) for this part of the Rescue Me Saga, it was SO worth the wait ....... Luke and Cassie's story was much more than I anticipated. The emotions in this story are raw, heartbreaking, heartwarming and life affirming. Luke is an amazing character whose soul needs to be needed and finds his hope and life-purpose in Cassie. She finds her strength, her courage, and her spiritual center when she learns to trust herself and Luke. Together, their journey to and with each other is simply awesome. Learning love, intimacy and the true meaning of how to grow and open your heart to the one person who will always give you "a soft place to land".And then, we get to see old friends and catch up with them as they are woven into the story: Adam and Karla, Marc and Angelina, Damien, Savi and Marisol, Ryder and Megan, Grant - the Masters family is back and better than ever. They are absolutely wonderful and their love and support of one another is remarkable.Do yourself a favor and read this series, immerse yourself in the lives of these spectacular people created in the creative mind of Kallypso Masters. Nobody's Dream is absolutely breathtaking and worth every single minute you spend engaged in this book!

Not what I expected By Dandy Diz As a HUGE fan of this series it pains me to write this review. After what seemed like an eternity we are finally able to find out what happened to Luke and Cassie in the aftermath of the avalanche. Yay!! And Mrs. Masters does not disappoint us in the least in the first few chapters as Cassie finds herself trapped not only literally but emotionally as well with Luke in her tiny cabin. But that is where things just go somewhat downhill for me. Before delving into the story we the readers find a letter of caution from Mrs. Masters warning us of triggers relating to rape as well as PTSD that may be tripped due to Cassie's sexual abuse and Adam's war experiences. Adam? Yes, we are told to expect Adam and Karla's story to continue here interwoven in the storyline. Ryder and Meagen are also mentioned as reoccuring here for reasons which will become evident. So I have to say I was primed to be as blown away with this installment as I was with Marc and Angelina's story. That one truly was an emotional rollercoaster. This one however barely scratched the surface of the emotional depth that I have grown to expect from this Author.Luke who I have enjoyed in the previous books is truly a weak male character often times too obtuse to be believed. He is more in tune with his horses feelings than Cassie's. I found myself wanting to pick up a two by four from his work shop to knock some sense into him but the man already was suffering from multiple head injuries. He works with abused traumatized animals and he couldn't figure Cassie out? Why not discuss it with his best friend Marc? Better yet Damien who had to deal with an abused Savannah with god knows how many triggers.Oh! And don't get me started on Cassie's supernatural abilities which really stretch the imagination in this one. I mean come on! Really, seriously? As for Adam and Karla while I was happy to reconnect their story would have been better served on its own and more in-depth. There really is no big PTSD moment or moments here short of a mention of a nightmare at some point in the recent past which has Adam sleeping elsewhere.Ryder and Meagen neither added or subtracted from this book. They were just, to put it plainly, unnecessary. To date I have loved each and every book in this series. Rating them between 4 & 5 stars. I have gotten invested in Mrs. Masters characters. So much so I dutifully read book 5, Ryder and Meagen's story, even though disappointed that Luke and Cassie were being pushed off with an explaination that their story was too important to just put it out there until it was right. But with all the time, hype and anticipation this book is by far the weakest of the 6 never hitting its stride. There was so much more to tell here that just never came to light. Both story lines were weak as well as lacking emotional depth. So a 3 it will be because while it stretched the imagination, even skipping pages at times, it allowed me to reconnect with characters I have grown to love.I will most likely continue this series but with less enthusiasm as before.

Loving Her Bear

*** This is a STANDALONE SHORT. This short has no cliffhangers and ends in a happily ever after *** Leticia walked around work the next day like a zombie. Being stood up again exhausted her. She wanted to find the right man and start a family, but she felt uncomfortable in her skin. When she was a little girl, she wished she could be Cinderella - tall, thin, blonde, and blue eyed - but wishing did not make it so. Lorenzo, on the other hand, felt that being a bear shifter was more of a curse than a blessing. Sometimes, he just needed to let his animal side out, and that didn’t bode well in his relationships. The last woman he’d dated, Teresa, seemed like the one. But once she found out about the clan, she left him. Of course, not before sleeping with a few of his friends. She told him he was “emotionally distant.” He thought he’d given her everything he had. But, he supposed, that was just the way love went. A grumpy bear falls for his curvy woman - A BBW Bear Shifter Romance with some cheeky humor ------ Tags: BBW Romance, Bear Shifter Romance, BBW Paranormal Romance, BBW Bear Shifter Romance, BBW Mail Order Bride Paranormal

A well-written shifter book with just the right doze of sweet romance By Nevena Glogovac *I received this book free in exchange for an honest review*Leticia is just another curvy woman who wants to find a man who'll make him feel comfortable in her skin. But, Lorenzo is a heart-broken bear shifter who fears falling in love again. Determined to find the right woman to claim her as his mate, Lorenzo makes his way into Leticia's life.Things get really interesting when two people from two completely different worlds come close to each other. A bear shifter in desperate need of a faithful human mate and a curvy woman who has no clue of what bear shifters are. This book is definitely a page-turner, considering the fact that it keeps you thinking about the fate of their love, especially when Leticia finds out the shifter's secret.Overall, I would rate it as a well-written shifter book with just the right doze of sweet romance.

This is yet another book that gave me a chance to get a taste of the bear shifter's romance. Armed with a great storyline and strong characters, this book was definitely worth my time. What I particularly liked about this book was that it was different from the other shifter novels that I've read recently. Sweet romance with shifter twist makes it a perfect paranormal read. I was given a free copy of this book for an honest review and I liked this book.

I haven't been too obsessed with reading bear shifter romance but this book kind of made bear shifter romance an obsession for me. I think I'm going to try more books from the author.I really like the fact that Leticia has a strong characters and she won't settle for less, especially when it comes to finding a guy who loves her curves. Lorenzo, on the contrary, fears getting into a serious relationship after all that he's been through all those years of dumping and bear shifter troubles. I also liked that he was honest with Leticia aout everything beforehand, the real man I would say.

Sin City Uniforms series:

Las Vegas is a special brand of crazy. Some say it’s the intense desert heat that triggers the madness. Others say it’s the promise of gambling riches or the lure of decadent pleasures. Known the world over as Sin City, the party never ends, but neither does the threat to the public. The uniformed men who are charged with keeping the city and its inhabitants safe are unique to the challenge. Firemen, police officers, SWAT, paramedics, CSI, military—they all band together to make sure the job gets done. Join them as they work hard, brave danger and love with a fierce abandon.

Justice Prevails by Morticia Knight

Book Three in the Sin City Uniforms series Never judge a sexy man by his cover. Detective Beau Williams is hardworking, dedicated and professional. He enjoys the finer things in life, but with his heavy caseload that includes what Beau suspects is a new serial killer, he has no time to enjoy much of anything. What the tall redhead needs is someone to shake him up a little. Investigative Technician Austin Kent never met a snarky joke he didn’t like—or a set of stairs that couldn’t trip him up. One night after a devastating episode at work, Austin sees something else he likes—the handsome detective he’s seen around the station whom he’s always wondered about. But after he makes a drunken fool of himself in front of Detective Williams, he’s sure there’s no hope. Beau and Austin’s worlds collide when Austin is sent to pick up some evidence at the station. Amidst a myriad of twists and turns in the troubling serial killer-style murders of Vegas conventioneers, Austin and Beau discover that there’s more to the other than they’d originally thought. There might even be more they’d like to give—unless the killer has the final say. Morticia Knight

This book had an excellent thriller story to it about a serial killer. Once I started I was hooked and didn't put it down until I was done. The story flowed very smoothly and even had a bit of humor added in.Loved Beau he was confident, strong and a very good detective who was always in charge. Austin had very low self esteem, liked to crack jokes to make himself feel comfortable, but was a sweet loving guy. The two of them were complete opposites, but I thought they worked together really well as a couple.Even though this is book 3 in the series, it could easily be read as a stand alone. I have enjoyed this series so far and look forward to more. They are quick reads that are very enjoyable. Definitely a must read!!!I was given this in return for an honest review by Inked Rainbow Reads.SherryfourstarsAnother amazing book by Morticia. I love the way the characters came to be and the way they slowly opened up to each other through various events and encounters.I did feel as though the crime side of things was heavy in the beginning and then became a back seat for most of the middle only to come back and be wrapped up. Or at least for Austin. Beau was always working and I felt for the man as he was under so much stress from work and handling a string of murders. All in all, a great read by Morticia and I can't wait for the next one.I was given this in return for an honest review by Inked Rainbow Reads.ReneefourstarsAustin’s life is messy and he isn’t very good at relationships. Working as an Investigative Technician at the DA’s office, he watches a childhood friend die. While drinking away his pain, he runs into beautiful, uptight homocide detective, Beau Williams.Even though Beau is chasing a serial killer, he finds time to explore the attraction he feels for Austin. But soon both men become embroiled in the search for a deluded mass murderer. This is a great murder mystery and a great romance. Beau and Austin wear against each other beautifully. As the relationship progresses, Beau starts to become a little less pretentious - and Austin starts to get himself together.I love Vegas for the book’s setting. I love the characters, and I love the way Morticia Knight continues to give more depth to her characters as the story unravells.I recommend this for those who enjoy a bit of murder with their romance.vI was given this in return for an honest review by Inked Rainbow Reads.Sarah

A serial killer (who let me tell you, is seriously disturbed)made for an intense ride. Austin, oh sweet, clumsy, Austin. I wanted to hug him in a blanket of love! He just... *sigh* Beau is perfect for him. Sexy ginger man hellbent on making Austin love himself. All the while Austin is waking up Beau in ways he didn't even know he needed waking! This story had a perfect mixture of sexy, hot, suspense, intensity, and humor. Great book by a great author!

Just ask Detective Beau Williams, homicide detective for the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department. Just as he thinks he might be able to take some time off, have a couple drinks, and relax, another body is found, leading him to believe a serial killer is on the loose. Each time a conventioneer disappears, he’s pulled deeper into the mystery, but will he ever catch the person responsible?Detective Beau Williams has his hands full with his day job as a homicide detective for the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department. This leaves him with little time to do anything but catch bad guys. But he sucks it up, does his job, and sneaks out for a little fun when he can. It also makes him a bit touchy and uptight as well, which I guess is understandable. Once I got past all of his walls and prickliness, I started to like him a lot. He’s patient, he’s kind, and he’s a redhead. With a beard no less. He’s very much an alpha male, which generally isn’t something I care for, but in a police officer, I think it’s more natural assertiveness and less arrogance.Austin Kent started out as an adorable dork. He’s clumsy, he’s insecure, and that’s really endearing. The problem with Austin, however, is that he can’t move past it. The clumsiness is there for life, trust me, I know that one firsthand. But even once he knows that Beau’s into him, he can’t accept it and constantly throws up snarky responses to everything. Once he finally relaxed enough to see the truth, he did settle down, which made me very happy because he and Beau really were good together. This third installment in the Sin City Uniforms series is probably one of my favorites to date. I really like how the author will introduce a character in a prior book before giving them their own story. It helps garner a little added interest as far as I’m concerned. You recognize the name and remember how he’d helped someone in the book before so you know you’re going in liking the main character. A steamy and sexy story coupled with an intense mystery makes for a very enjoyable read.originally posted at long and short reviews
