About the Author Derek Bailey is a graduate of Southern New Hampshire University’s Game Design and Development Program (BA) where he also completed minor in Creative Writing. He is a graduate of the four year Honors Program, was President of the Game Design and Development Club, served as a Peer educator, and frequently acted as a lector during Sunday Mass on campus. He has a passion for storytelling in all forms and across a number of genres. He has ghostwritten a science fiction novel, but Digitarum is his true debut novel.

By Mik Hetu, Author I’m impressed!Derek Bailey creates not just another world but a whole ‘nother reality; he has quite a vivid, detailed, and thorough imagination. What’s more, he is able to convey this other-reality universe and many generations of life in it with pretty good storytelling. The characters drive the action and make you want to keep reading till the end, and the end wraps up the plot nicely.They characters are portrayed with minimal description and dialogue but through their actions are convincingly three-dimensional. In fact, I am sure that various readers will identify with different main characters, and there are a few scenes that I am sure some readers will read and think, “That’s like me” or “That’s exactly like my brother / sister / cousin / friend.”From his author profile we know that Derek Bailey is relatively young, and he tells us that this is his first novel. It is not altogether surprising, then, that he does not have the voice of someone who has written a dozen books – but that’s okay! Although his relative inexperience shows a bit, overall, it is a good, solid piece of work. (I look back at what I wrote when I was his age, and I’m blown away by the comparison!) He touches on some rather big issues, both societal and personal, but with a light hand – he doesn’t sound preachy or naïve. In other words, no, this is not a masterpiece, but it is an enjoyable and worthwhile read.In summation, yes, I will buy his future books, and I’m betting he will develop both his writing and a fine fan following.

Compelling story of creation and destruction By Cy Wyss Digitarum is world-building of a different sort, being really more of a creation myth than anything else. Five gods emerge from a primordial egg into a dark, empty universe and they are told each has their purpose. One lights the space and becomes known as the light bringer. Others start to create: land, a tower, colors, and finally beings in their own image. One of the gods moves off from the others and is only interested in destruction, believing that's his purpose. Will the destroyer tear down what the creators have made? Or will the fledgling beings in this new world band together with their creator gods and banish the destroyer? The answers make for a compelling story.I liked the book. The writing is well-paced and flowing. It is, however, fairly abstract and (for example) low on specific descriptions. I found it hard to visualize the gods themselves and their people, other than imagining them as fairly generic but blue humans. Similarly for the landscape. The gods also seem to fall into the common trap of super powers which is that their extent is never clear. They seem to be as powerful (or not) as needed for the story. I realize fantasies like Digitarum require significant suspension of disbelief and perhaps it is my flaw that I find it difficult, not the book's. I liked the ending twist. I had been thinking how anti-science the story was getting, then that got turned on its head at the very last second. That was a great moment and, overall, made for a good read.

Digitarum by Derek Bailey is such a book. I found it to be a refreshingly original, stimulating book to read. I think it could be classed more safely under Mythology or Alternative History than Science Fiction or Fantasy. Bravely its author goes back to the beginning and describes how it was when the first beings came to be aware of themselves and each other. The only book that its first few pages reminded me of was a modern prose translation I have of Gilgamesh. I have been interested in mythology for a long time, mostly in Norse, Greek and Sumerian myths, so I enjoyed reading this new creation myth, which had such familiar elements as gods who are makers and the one of their kind who becomes their betrayer and plans to be their destroyer, the battle between good and evil, light and darkness, all set down in an interesting, absorbing way. I like the cover of the book, too, which was designed by its author. A simple, striking image, I would call it. I read often how important the cover of a book is, as it is the first thing a potential reader sees, and yet in the reviews of books that I have read the cover is never mentioned. The cover of Digitarum is worth mentioning as it is a fine work of art, created by the author himself. Anyone interested in mythology, alternative history, science fiction, fantasy, and books that are refreshingly different, original, would find this curious book an absorbing read.

This collection contains some really beautiful works, but my favorite is probably the girl who doesn't stop dancing. Like all good fairy tales, these stories can be read and reread many times, and somehow they continue to fascinate each time.

By Jessi An enchanting collection of stories that just keeps getting better and better the more you read. Each story is full of fairy tale wonder with a flash of darkness running throughout. While the darkness brings out rich beauty, it should be noted that the book is for older kids. And while not every story ends happily, Starcke does end them satisfactorily.Starcke tackles questions we all struggle with such as the importance of beauty, wanting to be accepted, searching for love, understanding spirituality, the ties of friendship, and loyalty. Each story keeps you thinking long after you've finished.Full of meaning and enchantment, these stories are well crafted in the style of the Brothers Grimm and Hans Christian Andersen. They can be read over and over. Its hard to choose a favorite, but I believe the last three spoke to me the most. When I started reading the book, I could not put it down. I look forward to experiencing the magic contained in these pages again.

Many extension activities with a few really good brain provoking activities By Sunshine on a Rainy Day As a math teacher, I often looked for more challenging work for my gifted students. I also taught gifted education. I was very excited to receive this book for review for that reason. I have mixed feelings about this workbook. First, I understand the challenge on teachers to find challenging work with the little time they have. Therefore, any tool catered to gifted students is a help. There are some very good activities here including budget planning for a business and comparing properties of famous structures such as the Eiffel Tower. If the entire book were filled with these kinds of activities, I would easily give it five stars. But much of the book is simply more work on the common core which gifted students usually already know in their sleep. These kids need work that is more interesting and makes them dig a little deeper into their brains. I give this book 3 1/2 stars and am rounding up to 4. As with any textbook or workbook, I would recommend picking the best stuff out and leaving the rest behind.Note: I received a free copy of this workbook in exchange for an honest review. All my reviews are 100% honest and based on preset criteria.

By the help of this book I have come to know some best travel tips, especially for the first time visitors. Actually, I had a dream to travel Rome and hope next month my family will go there. I purchased this book a few weeks ago for getting some essential guides and instructions. Inside of this book the author has described all most everything. Now I have understood about how to see Rome for 5 days or less. This book guided me about how to plan, arrive and stay. Inside of this book I have found some basic guides and survival tips. It is sometimes a hassle to travel, especially when you are not familiar with the place so it is important to study or at least have a background check first for the place you are going to especially if it is your first time in there. And if you have a plan on going to Rome, this book will be a great guide. It has so many details about the city, from the overview, to of course tourist spots, the must see's and must try's. It is organized in a way that you will not have any trouble of having no enough time. By just reading the book, I already want to book a flight to Rome as soon as I am available.

I like the detailed, practical tips that this book provides. It even gives precautions to the visitors regarding its safety upon roaming around the city. All the information I got from this book are useful and very sensible to me. I haven’t been there yet and visiting Rome for the first time really needs simple yet very comprehensive instructions like this. This is really great, I have knowledge now of different places that I can easily visit in less time.

Like a bad lending library with primarily C-list authors AND you have to pay a monthly fee to read. I can go to the public library for free... When you cancel (and you will) they take away the 10 mediocre books that you get to hold on your account... I am big reader and use Kindle, but save your subscription fee and just buy a book you want to read.

Kindle Unlimited is a great service offered by amazon but it may not be for you for a number of different reasons. This book breaks it all down, letting you know how the program works and the kind of books that are included in the program. David lets you know how many books you would need to read per month for this to be beneficial to you. Another great thing about this book is that the author address' the worth of Kindle Unlimited not only for readers but also for self-publishing authors. He highlights the advantages to enrolling your book in Kindle Unlimited along with the draw backs. It's everything that you need to know about Kindle Unlimited in this little book.

Read a series of books and thought I could Dave a few books - so sorry Charlie, they aren't included. So much for unlimited. Sad the more expensive books aren't on the table, but Amazon is nothing if about the bucks. Even their Prime video/tv isn't all that great.
