Kim Wells weaves history and mythology in this beautiful tale of the Lady in Blue, a ghost who goes back to prehistory, a shaman and a healer, the mother of all mothers, the ghost version of Clotho, if you will. As with all of Ms. Well's stories, the voice is the part that I always enjoy the most, with some gems that make me stop and want to jot them down, like this one: "[We all are] fragments of a story woven and ripped from the tapestry." Pure poetry.

This story is so neatly tied to the novel Mariposa, and it is a unique glimpse into who the "Lady" is. And boy Kim Wells has, in just a few pages conveyed to us that there is so much more to the Mariposa story, and it will be one that I am going to need! Of course that is as soon as she writes it ;-) ... So go get "Mariposa" and then read this story.

Having said that, I have read Hoodoopocalypse and knew that I was in for another treat from Wells. She does such a wonderful job with character development and that is shown in Lady in Blue. It is a short introduction but well worth your time. I can't wait to read Mariposa and see how everything ties in!
