An excellent travel guide By Anita At last, a kindle travel guide packed with a wealth of information which is logically organized and readily accessible.Information: *Detailed information on places and sights includes opening hours and admission fees as well as direct links to the websites. *A sizable listing of hotels and restaurants includes some high-end places, not just backpacker haunts *A whole section describes Indian food and includes a "menu decoder" *The shopping section describes locally crafted items as well as large market places *Arts sections note specifics of everything from Theyyam rituals to cooking courses to festivals and offer sources for further reading as well as on-line sites *Practical information sections give you health, banking, communication, transportation, etc. information and even warn you about scamsAccessibility: I have had my Kindle Fire for several years and have enjoyed the ability to highlight, bookmark pages and to expand a guidebook's map by tapping and spreading my fingers. With this guidebook, however, I used the free kindle app to put this guide on my Samsung tablet. This enabled me on any page to use the 3 bars in the top left corner to pull down a table of contents and click on a desired location. This made navigating the book a lot easier. Are there any negatives? A few but they are slight. Occasionally a page is skipped but by going forward a few pages and then going back, you can retrieve the missing page. The ability to go back to the previous page in another part of the book would be nice. For the first time I really think the kindle version is an advantage over the hardback book, and not just for the traveler to have less to carry. It is wonderful to have not only the book's detailed maps with places pinpointed but also Google maps that you can access directly with a tap.

I felt this book was missing major components that they usually do well on (culture and politics) and also referred to many places that didn't exist or weren't open. I ended up using trip advisor to find most hotels. Sad that these books haven't evolved with the times. The itineraries were useful for planning.

I bought the kindle version and was disappointed to find no pictures in this edition By dawn goodman I bought the kindle version and was disappointed to find no pictures in this edition ....it was reasonably helpful for the Tamil Nadu part of my journey, and MOST helpful in the town I visited in Maharastra for 3 weeks.
