About the Author Jon Wagner is a pioneer in working virtually. He has been working with and researching virtual teams for over 20 years, including team workshops, online seminars, effectiveness assessments and team interventions for leadership, global and cross-cultural teams. This accelerated when Jon was invited to take on a leadership role for Hewlett-Packard in California and found that his son had trouble breathing due to poor air quality. He proposed, successfully, that he take on that role to a significant degree virtually, from his lakefront property in Ontario. Given that those were the days of dial-up connection, that was a challenge, but a challenge that was met successfully and built on for years. Jon led virtual teams and worked with dozens of leadership teams and then worked on converting numerous learning solutions to better fit the learning needs of a virtual workforce. As a Human Resources Development and Training and Development Leader and Consultant he has designed, developed and delivered Blended Learning programs and solutions globally to diverse clients. He has also consulted to several large Training and Development companies and organizations to help them shift from a face-to-face classroom environment to Blended Learning and the Virtual Classroom. Jon has worked in senior Human Resources, OD, Training and Change Management roles for over 35 years. As an organization consultant he has facilitated large-scale change projects and organizational transformations at HP, Agilent, Alcan, Ontario Public Service, Oracle Clients and Loblaw. He has co-authored 3 books on Virtual Teams, Virtual Meetings and Blended Learning and the Virtual Classroom. He has been a speaker at numerous conferences about Virtual Teams, Virtual Meetings, the Virtual Classroom, Blended Learning and Change Management.

By Marilyn Laiken I am the Director of the Masters Certificate in Adult Training and Development program delivered through the Schulich Executive Education Centre at York University. One of our advanced training modules chose this book as an integral component of the program. The book is very well researched, organized and authoritative. It reflects the latest thinking in our field. We have also used the best practices in this book to convert another very successful in-class training program to a completely virtual blended learning training experience. This allowed us to deliver the program globally, significantly expanding the reach of our training. This project also clearly convinced me that you can replicate a highly interactive in-class learning experience using virtual classrooms and other blended learning components by applying the knowledge found in this handbook. I highly recommend this handbook to guide you through the design, development and delivery of blended learning programs.Marilyn Laiken, PhDDirector, Masters Certificate in Adult Training and Development

By Patricia Milland I found this very clearly written and well organized book extremely useful as it is focused on an extensive set of highly pragmatic best practices for use in the virtual classroom. I am an experienced in-class instructor but now appreciate that the virtual classroom requires me to master a number of new tools and techniques to be just as successful there. I am also now intrigued with experimenting with the blended learning approach to learning over time as well.

The pages are riddled with grammatical errors, spelling mistakes that any entry level proofreader would catch. The images are low quality and dated. The content doesn't capture the latest trends in learning and education. The procedures they use are counter to many of the industry best practices and guidelines.
