Lovely and interesting pictures..loads of them. The history of the ships and the battles in the West /Central Pacific I found particularly fascinating. There was a lot of new information.The exploits of Mr Herscheid and his romping around the remote areas of the New Guinea archipelago were an eye opener. I'm sure he looks back on that phase of his life with nostalgia and a wish it could be repeated. His experiences must have been one in a million and it is great to have been able to share them, if only via the written word and photographs.It is a incredible book, highly recommended and an essential read for anyone interested in the Pacific.A time past never to be repeated, warfare and wrecks, history, sociology, etc; and a great, interesting, yarn to boot. There is so much to be found in the pages and pictures. Once opened I found it difficult to put down. I liked the easy style of writing, it is full of interesting facts and stories which means you just want to read another chapter.Well done...a fantastic read and a must for all people with an interest in the West Pacific.
